State of Massachusetts Industrial Instructor I - Metal Shop in Norfolk, Massachusetts

Duties: Instructor in a metal Shop involved in metal manufacturing operations. Responsible for production planning, work assignments, quality, safety, machine operation, security, tool control, incarcerated individuals’ instruction, training and profitability of the shop functions. Ability to run CNC machining centers, read and produce CAD drawing plans. Experience with manufacturing and production systems. Performs other duties as assigned. SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL HAVE TO SUCCESSFULLY PASS A PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION, DRUG SCREENING, OSHA RESPIRATOR MEDICAL EVALUATION AND BACKGROUND AND MUST ATTEND A FOUR (4) WEEK RECRUIT ACADEMY Preferred Qualifications: Five years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in the operation of a full-service metal fabrication shop or manufacturing operations. Welding certification and AWS membership preferred. Comments: This is a Civil Service position. Candidate must take and pass the next Civil Service Examination for this title and score must be reached in order to be considered for a permanent appointment. Please note that salaries for union positions are determined according to the provisions of the respective collective bargaining agreement. Applicants must have no felony convictions, to include any actions defined in 5 U.S.C. 301; U.S.C. 509, 510; 42 U.S.C. 15601-15609. The Massachusetts Department of Correction shall not hire anyone who may have direct contact with offenders, who has engaged in sexual abuse in a prison or other institution as defined in 42 U.S.C. 1997; or has been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse, or has been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described in the above paragraph. The agency shall consider any incidents of sexual harassment in determining whether to hire anyone who may have contact with offenders or residents. The DOC urges bi-lingual applicants to apply.
