State of Massachusetts PM V - Unit Director - Norfolk in Norfolk, Massachusetts
Duties: Manage the day-to-day responsibilities for the Department of Correction and vendor staffing for the Behavior Assessment Unit (BAU) and Critical Stabilization Unit (CSU) to include staffing, specialized and ongoing training, unit schedules, staff management and the allocation of resources. Coordinate the duties and tasks of the BAU Interdisciplinary Appraisal Team (IAT) to carry out the full range of rehabilitative programs to include, mental health services, classification, case management, vocational, educational, therapeutic recreational and community reentry interventions. Collaborates with various divisions such as Special Programs, Classification, Programs, and Reentry. Operationalize and monitor the delivery of all services, incarcerated individual’s adherence to personalized program plans, collaborate with the IAT regarding incarcerated individual management and progress. Ensure availability and accessibility of medical care, mental health and other treatment, and program services for this specialized population. Ensure compliance with 103CMR 425: Secure Program Units and all relevant DOC policies and regulations. Assist with the oversight of the Critical Stabilization Unit to include compliance with policy and procedure; coordinate programming with the Health Services Administrator for individuals in CSU, ensure full range of rehabilitative programs to include mental health, classification, case management, educational, therapeutic recreational and community reentry interventions are available. Review, manage, and maintain the Therapeutic Supervisions folders. Oversight of the NOR Facility Tablet Committee. Chair the NOR Facility Tablet Committee by coordinating meetings with staff, attend Central Tablet Committee Meetings, and ensure compliance with 475 DOCincarcerated individuals Tablets. Lastly, perform other duties as assigned. This position reports directly to the Deputy Superintendent of Reentry.* *Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated management abilities, proven interpersonal skills, and written/verbal communication skills. Working knowledge of the Department of Correction’s operating procedures, security management, classification, treatment, and assessment. Ability to multi-task, manage competing priorities within a highly charged, high risk, stressful environment. Ability to oversee a multi-disciplinary team that includes vendor and state employees. Familiarity with mental health services, practices, and treatment modalities. Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, correctional, public administration, or mental health (master’s degree preferred). Three to five years of correctional or criminal justice experience. Familiarity and knowledge of mental health field and experience in dealing with special needs populations such as mentally ill, developmentally, or otherwise disabled, or substance abuse patients. Expertise in program development, policy and procedure writing, training, and implementation. MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least (A) five (5) years of full-time or, equivalent part-time, professional, professional internship, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in business administration, business management, public administration, public management, clinical administration or clinical management or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and substitutions below. Substitutions: I. A certificate in a relevant or related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience. II. A Bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience. III. A Graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for three (3) years of the required experience. IV.
