Amazon Sr. Applied Scientist - Motion Planning with ML, Amazon Robotics in North Reading, Massachusetts
Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Applied Scientist to advance the state of the art in ML-based planning for robotic workcells in Amazon Fulfillment centers. In this role, you will work across multiple teams to develop the next generation of robots which can be applied to a variety of use cases. Your solutions will allow Amazon to increase productivity and efficiency while prioritizing employee safety.
Key job responsibilities
Design, adapt and implement advanced machine learning models ( including foundation models) for motion planning of manipulation robots
Build and test prototype robotic workcell setups to validate the performance of the solution
Partner with cross-functional teams to rapidly create new concepts and prototypes
Work with Amazon's robotics engineering and operations teams to understand their requirements and develop tailored solutions
Document the architecture, performance, and validation of the final system

Basic Qualifications
3+ years of building machine learning models for business application experience
PhD, or Master's degree and 6+ years of applied research experience
Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
Deep experience in motion planning for manipulation robots
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in creating , adapting or integrating foundation models with robots
Practical experience with modern robotics frameworks like ROS 2 and Gazebo
