The Department of Mental Health (DMH) is seeking to hire an intern who will support the Western Massachusetts Area Medical Director to review the residential services being provided outside of Department of Mental Health’s existing contracts. These services are “Individualized Support Placements” and vary widely. They must be reviewed regularly to ensure they are providing the appropriate services and to determine whether the placement is still suited to the individuals’ needs. Information will be obtained by record review, consultation with the site responsible for providing services, and accompanying the Area Medical Director on in-person visits. The areas of particular interest are 1) the reason for initial referral, 2) what services are being provided that are not available in existing DMH programs, and 3) what other supports have been provided to achieve goals and maintain a safe lifestyle in the community. It is expected that the intern will not only collect, but also collate and assist in the analysis of the information for the purpose of decision-making and future planning. _Preferred Qualifications_ Interest in human services and data collection, comfortable working in a variety of unfamiliar settings, willing to travel around the state, able to ask for guidance and work independently. _Period of Service:_ May 28, 2024 through August 31, 2024 _Additional Information:_ Benefits are unavailable except for sick leave accruals. All employees will be paid on a biweekly basis and must have direct deposit. The salary for this position is$18an hour.
