Your Opportunity

This is a multi-disciplinary, entry- to mid-level position that requires strong knowledge of civil engineering practices and principals along with understanding and appreciation of biological and ecological science. Candidates must have a BS or MS degree in a relevant engineering discipline. Applicants for this position must have strong writing and communication skills and should be familiar with relevant software.

Your Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities of this position include desktop and field studies in support of a broad spectrum of water resource engineering projects with a focus on assessment and design for aquatic habitat restoration, including dam removal, culvert replacement, stream restoration and enhancement, and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling. This position provides substantial opportunities for collaboration with scientific disciplines as part of Stantec’s holistic Environment Services program.


Your Capabilities and Credentials

Required skills and experience include:

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills;

  • Ability to creatively apply technical knowledge;

  • Firm grasp of mathematics and engineering mechanics;

  • Drafting skills, including experience with AutoCAD software;

  • Ability to utilize geographic information system (GIS) software for geospatial analysis;

  • Ability to perform fieldwork;

  • Familiarity with field survey equipment and methods;

  • Experience working and recreating in and along waterways; and

  • Attention to detail, positive attitude, desire to support team success, and ability to function well in a fast-paced environment.

Desired skills include:

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D;

  • Working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS;

  • Experience supporting local, state and federal environmental regulatory coordination;

  • MS in civil or environmental engineering;

  • Experience with surface water hydrology and hydraulics;

  • Experience with HEC-RAS (or similar) hydraulic modeling software;

  • Understanding of basic fluvial geomorphic principals;

  • Basic knowledge of construction; and

Education and Experience

  • Passed EIT/EI exam required, PE license preferred.

  • BS degree in civil or environmental engineering discipline;;

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
