Open Sky Community Services Futures Youth Group Care - Awake Overnight Counselor (36 Hours) in Northborough, Massachusetts

USD $20.00/Hr.
Description and Responsibilities
The Youth & Young Adult Group Residence and the Young Adult Supported Living programs support individuals (males and females) referred by the Department of Children and Families. The group residence serves seven young adults 17-22 years old while the supported living program serves two young adults 18-22 years old. The programs focus on building independent living skills and supporting the transition to young adulthood. Staff focus on goals such as living within a budget to save money, food shop and cook, do their own laundry, utilize transportation, complete an educational program, and obtain employment.
The Awake Overnight Counselor provides guidance and support during the overnight hours, and assists individuals with all morning routine s. T hey also help to empower the youth served through the use of a trauma informed care approach and utilize such skills as compromising, negotiating, and problem solving. They help to keep the youth integrated into the community both locally and in their home towns. Additionally, counselors help prepare meals to share with the youth, so free food is an added perk!
Other Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the development of independent living skills for youth served by ensuring a supportive, nurturing, fun, and structured environment.
Must remain awake and alert for the entirety of shift (overnight).
Prepare meals according to menu and share meal time with youth to further relationships.
Provide transportation as needed to and from various community activities.
The organization recognizes skills, location, training and population served in certain programs by offering an additional hourly differential. Ask your recruiter if this position qualifies for an additional hourly differential!
Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent, required.
Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record, required.
Reliability, willingness to learn, and being open to new opportunities.
