Wayfair Furniture Repair Technician 1 in Norton, Massachusetts

Hourly Pay

  • $20.50/hr Plus Peak Bonuses and Incentives

Shift

  • Sunday - Wednesday 7:30am - 6:00pm

  • Wednesday - Saturday 7:30am - 6:00pm

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and conscientious with a passion for protecting the customer. The primary role will be to perform product inspections during the inbound process to identify incoming damage or defects to prevent them from entering our network. This involves delicate unpackaging and repackaging to ensure no impact to the product or its protection. Flexibility is also important as this role and the department as a whole evolves over time to ensure customer satisfaction. The associate will also be a valued member of the team whose ideas and suggestions will be leveraged to continue improving the process. Quality is dedicated to continuous improvement and seeks associates who are thoughtful and take initiative to solve problems and escalate issues.

What You'll Do

  • Audit staged outbound product for accuracy and quality

  • Unpack and inspect products to identify damage or defects

  • Perform repairs on boxes such as taping, reboxing when needed, repalletizing and using banding material to strap boxes to pallets

  • Document the results of inspection through RF gun scans

  • Collect evidence of failures by capturing key attributes (location, failure mode, etc.) and images via a google form

  • Identify opportunities for improvement and collaborate with supervisor, lead, peers and support staff to implement

  • Evaluate damages and defects of items and determine if items can be repaired

  • Order replacement parts and install as needed

  • Administer appropriate trained repair methods for various product types including, but not limited to:

  • Evaluate each piece of furniture to determine the type of wood and/or upholstery repairs, parts, and materials needed to complete the job and reports situations that occur when repairs cannot be completed

  • Case Goods: Burn-ins, refinishing, joinery, match colors, and simulate wood grain

  • Make any required adjustments to items ahead of delivery and ensure item is in perfect condition to be delivered to the customer

  • Provide direct input into the existing user tools and make recommendations for improvements based on your everyday experience

  • Be a vocal contributor on the team

  • Work effectively with peers and managers

  • Identify the most efficient way to complete assigned tasks and ask clarifying questions when appropriate

  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned which may include but not be limited to warehouse functions of receiving and picking freight as well as furniture assembly

What You'll Need

  • Must be comfortable repeatedly lifting up to 75 lbs. unassisted and moving product 150+ lbs. unassisted or via team lift.

  • Must be able to work on the warehouse floor 8 hours a day or more.

  • Strong, consistent work ethic.

  • Excellent time management and punctuality; Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Comfortable using hardware technology (RF Guns, Android devices, etc.)

  • Experience in Distribution or Logistics is a plus.

  • Ability to use power and hand tools as needed

  • Desire to learn how to repair wood items including: color and stain matching, damage/defect repair is preferred

  • High attention to detail and prioritizes quality to deliver a perfect item to the customer

  • Able to read and comprehend English to ensure your safety and the safety of those working around you.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
