Reporting to Business Unit Manager, High Force Applications Business Unit, the Product Innovation and Marketing Manager is a key position collaborating with all members of the High Force Applications Business Unit to meet and exceed the growth and profitability goals of the business. Primary responsibilities include product management and product marketing for the HFA business as well as having responsibility for Norwood based, high force, sales support. As a leader within the High Force Applications Business Unit, this position is responsible for developing team members to their highest potential and driving activities and decisions focusing on maintaining Instron’s prominent level of customer satisfaction.

Product and Market Management: Managing a group of product and market managers, responsibilities include the following:

· Managing the entire life cycle of all products within the business from strategic planning to product definition to tactical launch activities.

· Driving Customer Back Innovation activities resulting in development of new products that solve customer pain points in strategically important industries.

· Developing and implementing a cohesive short, and long term, HFA product roadmap. This should include active ownership of the PLS activity within the HFA Business Unit.

· Coordinating and participating in on-going market exploration exercises and combining this information with a business case analysis to define product or business requirements.

· Collaborating with other business unit Product Managers to develop effective cross product line development opportunities.

· Analyzing potential partner relationships for the product lines

_Product Marketing Support: _ Collaborating with Director of Marketing Communications and support Marcom resources, is responsible for the following:

· Develops and implements global marketing plans to meet bookings and profit objectives for the product line including all lead generation activity and sales and product collateral

· Develop the core messaging and positioning for all products within the business

· Defining pricing and sales strategy/policies for all products within the business and drives these through the global distribution organization.

· Have an elevated level of expertise in the competitive landscape including competitive product and pricing strategy

· Responsible for providing and analyzing data on product volume and customer marketing information.

Sales and Application support: Working with the HFA Applications Engineers, ensure the following:

· Provide an excellent level of direct sales support for all Field Sales personnel in Asia, EMEA and the Americas including the following:

· Order entry support

· Field and Norwood based application support

· Discount information

· Competitive analysis

· Product and application training.

· Be responsible for the development of sales tools

· Ensure the Norwood location demo lab provides the highest level of application support including competitive system analysis, customer sample testing and customer demonstrations.

· Works directly with select regional sales offices to help define selling and marketing strategy

· Must possess excellent communications, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

· Must have in-depth knowledge of assigned product line and associated target markets. This knowledge level is usually acquired via a combination of completion of a bachelor’s degree in a related technical field and/or Engineering as well as 7-10 years of marketing, product management and/or sales experience in a manufacturing company environment. Advanced technical or business-related degree an advantage.

· Must have in-depth understanding of or experience in capital equipment sales, preferably with material testing equipment. Experience should include all aspects of distribution including direct and distribution and over multiple industries such as government, educational and industrial.

· Must have a good working understanding of selling and marketing in a global environment.

· Requires direct experience in managing and developing employees and managing a dept within budget

· Requires a thorough knowledge of Instron equipment, policies, and procedures, typically acquired in 3-5 years of Instron experience.
