The Sanitation Operations Manager is responsible for the effective cleanliness and maintenance of the entire facility to ensure that the plant adheres to strict compliance standards. This role is responsible for leading best practice development, sanitation compliance, overseeing pest control programs, team training, and is the point of contact for technical support in the facility. The Sanitation Operations Manager must have an educational background and technical aptitude as it relates to food sanitation programs, chemical handling, and Food Safety programs. A general knowledge of food and environmental microbiological testing as well as preventative measures including sanitary design and automated sanitation and efficiency are required. The Sanitation Operations Manager also leads operations with start-ups as well as day to day operations after sanitation is completed including on non-sanitation days. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop, implement, and manage strategic sanitation program, policies, plans and processes (SSOPs, Master Cleaning Schedule, CIP) to ensure that sanitation meets regulatory safety requirements and customer compliance. Coach and train sanitation team on proper cleaning practices and sets goals for consistent performance excellence. Clearly and professionally communicate expectations to sanitation team and to other departments. Ensure that the plant is cleaned at the established frequency and ready to start production on time. Investigate sanitation issues, review and analyze data for pathogen monitoring, environmental monitoring programs, food safety audits, customer complaints as well as other sources, and utilizes the data to identify trends and take corrective/ preventive actions (CAPA). Order and maintain inventory of all sanitation chemical supplies. Manage annual sanitation plan, budget forecast and performance. Manage the daily production operations from start-ups at the facility which includes all production supervisor's department production schedules and product rotation CCP verification schedules. Oversee safety committee, develops and improves deficient areas, and review with the affected team members. Partner with the leadership team to ensure compliance with the company's Employee Personal Safety, Food Safety and Food Quality guidelines as well as customer requirements. Work closely with Maintenance, Engineering, QA, and equipment vendors to ensure that new or modified equipment meets sanitary design and regulatory requirements prior to purchase and installation Other duties or tasks may be assigned as required Other duties as assigned Four-year college degree in Food Science, Microbiology, other science-related field or five years' experience in Sanitation, and Operations/ processing as a Lead with verifiable leadership experience required. Extensive knowledge of the food and beverage industry - familiarity with all aspects of a HACCP-based Food Safety Program (GFSI/ SQF) required. Working knowledge of USDA and/ or FDA regulations required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) English required. Bilingual in Spanish or Portuguese preferred.
