M.S. Walker Third Shift Operations Manager in Norwood, Massachusetts

M.S. Walker has an exciting new opportunity for a Third Shift Operations Manager who can help us take our warehouse operations to the next level! The ideal candidate is an experienced manager with a strong commitment to employee development and supervisor mentorship. Effective communication of the team's goals and strategies is crucial for the successful candidate. As a manager, you will foster a positive work environment, maintain safety and compliance, and ensure clear communication and accountability for expectations. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Safety Leadership: Champion our safety culture by communicating and enforcing all Federal, State, and M.S. Walker safety policies. Build and sustain a safety-first environment and ensure timely submission of Worker’s Compensation claims.

  • Training & Development: Oversee training for all staff on powered industrial equipment and schedule weekly safety meetings. Continuously seek and implement improvements to safety processes.

  • Mentorship & Coaching: Guide and mentor supervisors to enhance their communication and leadership skills. Use positive and negative reinforcement strategies to drive performance and promote staff growth.

  • Performance Management: Set and achieve performance goals for your team and supervisors. Develop, implement, and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure alignment with industry standards and company policies.

  • Compliance & Documentation: Ensure adherence to labor laws and maintain accurate records for regulatory compliance, including safety inspections and training documentation.

  • Effective Communication: Lead weekly supervisor meetings to set goals, discuss performance, address support needs, and communicate opportunities and action plans. Ensure clear shift-to-shift communication and daily status reporting. Utilize translation services for ESL employees to ensure inclusivity.

  • Vision Sharing: Articulate and model your vision for the team, outlining where we’re headed and how we’ll get there.

Requirements

  • 5 or more years of managing multiple supervisors

  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Suite: Teams, Excel, Outlook

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Project management experience

Desirable Skills:

  • Third shift/overnight experience strongly preferred

  • OSHA 10 certified

  • Previous warehouse experience ideally involving a Warehouse Management System (WMS) or Warehouse Controller System (WCS)

  • Bilingual (Creole, French, or Spanish preferred)

  • Conflict resolution experience
