Actalent Phlebotomist II in Peabody, Massachusetts
This is a float phlebotomist position that will include traveling to other facilities within a 30mi distance of Peabody, MA. The hours for this position are scheduled for an 8 to 10 hour shift between the times of 8:00AM-8:00PM M-F. May require occasional weekend work.
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist II to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, and recording maintenance data. You will be responsible for collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures, explaining the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections clearly and courteously, and demonstrating techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. You will also be responsible for matching laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing specimens as required by the test order, and packaging specimens for transport.
Responsibilities
Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
Properly explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collections to patients.
Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
Fully understand all physicians' orders.
Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
Package specimens for transport.
Store specimen samples according to required temperatures and procedures.
Attend annual department trainings.
Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment (as required).
Minimum of 2 years of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
High School Diploma or GED with 2 years of experience.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
