BFAIR Community Living Direct Support Professi in Pittsfield, Massachusetts

The Community Living Direct Support Professional is primarily responsible for providing various support to individuals in their home setting. The Community Living Direct Support Professional assists individuals in all areas of daily living including personal care, housekeeping, cooking, companionship, individual support, and daily living tasks. The Direct Support Professional works closely with individuals to help them to become as independent as possible and to meet their Plan of Care goals and own personal goals. Also assists individuals to find and participate in community membership as well as pursuing individual interests. QUALIFICATIONS: A Highschool Diploma/GED or life/work experience with providing care to individuals with disabilities or the elderly. Ability to complete all initial and ongoing background checks including but not limited to: CORI, SORI, Fingerprinting, LEIE, Driving Record, E-Verify, Physical, PPD, and licensing and/or certification checks (I.e. nursing). Valid US driver?s license. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Treat each consumer, co-worker, supervisor and others with the respect and dignity due every human being and adhere to the Human Rights Standards and the Elder Abuse Reporting Guidelines through the Executive Office of Elder Affairs (EOEA) around physical and emotional abuse, including the timely reporting of violations. In addition, will abide by the Disabled Persons Protection Commission?s (DPPC) Mandated Reporter Guidelines. 2. Chore: Provide the above day-to-day household maintenance tasks that are needed to maintain a consumer\'s home in a sanitary, organized, and safe manner. This service includes heavy household chores such as washing floors, windows, and walls, securing loose rugs or tiles, and moving furniture to provide safe access and egress. 3. Homemaker: Provide housekeeping, shopping, laundry, essential errands, basic meal preparation and meal planning (not for special diets), maintain a safe environment, observing, monitoring, and reporting on consumer condition and teaching those tasks. 4. Companion: Provide non-medical care, supervision, and socialization to consumers. Assist and/or supervise a consumer with light household tasks such as meal preparation, laundry, and shopping. Provide services designed to develop, maintain and/or maximalize the participant?s independent living skills, to achieve objective of improved health and welfare to support the ability of the participant to establish and maintain a residence in the community. 5. Individual Support and Community Habilitation: Provides services which may include locating appropriate housing, the acquisition, retention, or improvement of skills related to personal finance, health, shopping, and use of community resources, community safety, and other social and adaptive skills to live in the community. Individual support and community habilitation provide support necessary for the individual to live in and maintain a household of their choosing in the community. It may include training and education in self-determination and self-advocacy to enable the individual to acquire skills to exercise control and responsibility over the serves and supports they receive, and to become more independent, integrated, and productive in their communities. 6. Personal Care: Provide a range of personal care assistance that is appropriate and necessary for the participant?s health and well-being.
