Berkshire Health Systems Director of Dietary Services in Pittsfield, Massachusetts

This position requires occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
  • DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTION

  • The position is responsible for directing and leading the Dietary Services for Berkshire Health Systems. Delivery of dietary services is provided in accordance with established federal, state and local standards, the joint commission on accreditation of hospitals' standards and the American dietetic association. The director leads the dietary service within organization and regulatory guidelines; ensures the quality of service, and provides remedial actions when standards are not being met; is responsible to promote the positive image of the health system; demonstrates a commitment to teamwork within and among entities and departments.

  • POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)

  • Experience:

  • 5 years progressive experience in dietary service operations.

  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory and/or management experience required.

  • Education and Training:

  • Associates degree in leadership, quantity food preparation, nutrition, sanitation, purchasing and managing food service operations required. Equivalent experience may be considered

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • License, Certification & Registration:

  • ALLERGEN - Allergen Awareness certification

  • CDM, CFPP - Certified Dietary Manager, Certified Food Protection Professional (ANFP-Association of Nutrition and Foodservice Professionals)

  • SERVESAFE - Servesafe Certification

  • DRIVER - Driver's License

  • Other Requirements:

  • Hospital Hazmat and Decontamination – Operations Level (preferred)

  • Member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) (preferred)

  • Must demonstrate proven leadership ability, excellent verbal and written communication skills, good organization skills, and a high level of self-motivation.

  • Ability to speak, read and write the English language in an understandable manner.

  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

  • Strong verbal communication and documentation skills.

  • Must comply with all mandatory, hospital, Joint Commission and department education and training/competency requirements.
