Guido's Fresh Marketplace Human Resources Manager in Pittsfield, Massachusetts

Are you an experienced HR professional looking to lead a dynamic department in a family-owned grocery business? Our high-end grocery store, with two locations and 300+ employees, is seeking a Human Resources Manager to oversee all aspects of HR operations. This is a hands-on position that requires deep familiarity with all aspects of HR, including recruitment, payroll, benefits, compliance, employee relations, and performance management. Our current HR Manager is retiring but will remain part of the team, focusing on training and knowledge transfer. We need a leader who can continue to build our strong HR foundation while helping shape the department\'s future. The HR Team is small but mighty. Key Responsibilities - Oversee and manage payroll, benefits administration, wage planning, and compliance - Maintain and enhance employee relations, performance management, and workforce development - Support and guide managers on employee relations, coaching, and development - Lead recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts to support our growing team - Administer and improve our 401(k) plan, workers\' compensation, and employee support programs - Stay updated on labor laws, HR policies, and best practices to ensure compliance - Partner with ownership and department managers to align HR strategies with business goals - Work hands-on with HR tasks as needed, including assisting employees with concerns and payroll inquiries - Utilize HR technology and systems, including UKG Timekeeping, to streamline processes - Maintain a positive workplace culture and uphold our company values - Work collaboratively with owners, department managers, and employees to foster growth and engagement Qualifications & Skills - Proven HR leadership experience, preferably in a retail, grocery, or hospitality setting. 8+ years experience preferred - Hands-on experience with payroll systems, benefits administration, and employee relations - Strong knowledge of employment laws, compliance regulations, and HR best practices - Tech-savvy with HR software; experience with UKG timekeeping is a plus - Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills - A community-minded approach that aligns with our family-owned business culture - Experience working with immigrant communities is a plus! Education - Bachelor\'s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field.
