Kubernetes Developer

Pittsfield, MA

Contract Position

$50.92/Hour

This position is supporting the next generation in developing mission critical systems for our national defense. You would be a part of creating the most effective and state of the art technologies for Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance supporting the Army, Navy, Air Force, Special Forces, and other Federal Government agencies working with our military.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the design and implementation of the common infrastructure that will support the applications to meet our customer's exacting requirements.

  • Work closely with the Product Manager, Architects, and Product Owners to ensure alignment with the technical roadmap.

  • Apply a set of principles and practices to incorporate aspects of software, IT, and systems engineering and apply them to infrastructure and operations problems to create scalable and reliable systems.

  • Utilize your knowledge of Kubernetes you will design, develop, and integrate container orchestration solutions to support critical mission capabilities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field combined with 5 + years of relevant work experience, or a Master's Degree combined with 3 + years of relevant work experience.

  • Ability to Obtain Secret Clearance

  • Agile experience preferred

  • Strong Kubernetes skills including disconnected installation, Kubernetes administration, and troubleshooting issues with the system

  • Extensive experience with Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, RKE2, Ansible, Helm, and other orchestration/PaaS technologies

  • Strong Red Hat Enterprise Linux background with experience in disconnected systems

  • Experience with Kubernetes networking plugins (CNI) such as Calico and Flannel

  • Experience with implementing Kubernetes security policies both for the orchestration components as well as the deployments (CIS Benchmarks, STIGs)

  • Experience extending Kubernetes API using open-source plugins

  • Experience creating and troubleshooting Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Chef, Puppet)

  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair hardware or software problems

  • Understanding of Systems Security Engineering and its application to the systems lifecycle

  • Solid technical communication, writing, and organizational skills

  • Familiarity with Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines utilizing tools like Jenkins or GitLab

  • Comfortable executing as a member of an Agile Scrum team (SAFe)

  • Familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering concepts and culture

  • Certifications in Kubernetes (CKA, CKAD, CKS)

  • Familiarity with Real Time Containers and Orchestration

  • Certifications relating to Linux (RHCSA, RHCE, Linux+, LPIC, LFCS, LFCE)

  • Certifications in Cyber Security (Security+, CISSP, CEH, CASP)

  • Experience developing information systems for use in Weapons Systems

  • Previous experience in Weapons System Command and Control (C2)
