Berkshire Community College Peer Recovery Support Coordinator in Pittsfield, Massachusetts

The Peer Recovery Support Coordinator will manage the day-to-day activities of the community and offer guiding, non-clinical support to students and the CRC community and actively develop a campus culture that supports a recovery community. The person in this role must hold and honor a belief that recovery is possible for all and that one\'s recovery pathway is an individual\'s choice. The Peer Recovery Support Coordinator role is to reach and actively engage students through participation in campus welcome events, collaborations with other student engagement departments especially personal counseling. This role relies on a consistent efforts and positive energy to pursue recovery activities that are student inspired including educational and recovery focused programming such as BCC Voices of Recovery, All-Recovery and Recovery Dharma meetings, fellowship and connection and self-care social events aligned with campus academic stress points. Key Responsibilities: - Guide students to continually develop Students for Recovery community through campus and student engagement, advocacy, collaboration and full-campus programming. - Understand the principals and uphold practices of Collegiate Recovery and Peer Participatory communities. - Support students with recovery pathways and make connections to broader campus educational and social supports. - Offer All-recovery, Recovery Dharma, meditation and other non-denominational mutual aid meetings and self-care programming on each working day. - Attend orientation (with student advocates whenever possible) clubs and orgs, nursing and other in-person or virtual opportunities to welcome new students and support and engage current students when requested. - Support and engage all peer community members using a strength-based, peer support model and multiple pathways perspective to introduce and support all recovery pathways. - Cultivate and support peer involvement, meeting each member where they are at, using appreciative inquiry and active listening and conversation to discover their interests. - Provide one-one non-clinical recovery peer support. Support students to meet their educational and recovery goals and nurture student to student peer relationships. - Serve as a role model of recovery values and principles. Maintain a high level of trust and privacy with engaged students. - Desire and openness to continued learning that supports the mission and vision of Collegiate Recovery. - With administrative support: update SFR website, develop marketing materials for semester offerings and special events, and event planning for space and food. - Follow requirements to payments and approve expenses as related. - Ensure a clean and inviting space in the Recovery Lounge shared space, serving as an additional liaison with this shared Academic space. - Track attendance for all programming to include in semester or annual progress report. - Work collaboratively with Personal Counseling and other campus supports to refer or invite students to take advantage of holistic support. - Commitment to understanding and working in a Peer-Participatory model. Requirements: Education/Experience: Associate Degree and Certified Peer Recovery Coach credential preferred or 5-7 years of related experience. Completion of Recovery Coach Academy or related peer support experience; lived experience may be considered in place of education. Those with working knowledge of the Collegiate Recovery Peer model and BCC alumni are encouraged to apply. Preferred Qualifications: - Demonstrated experience providing peer support and peer recovery coaching - Lived experience in substance use recovery - Lived experience pursing higher education in active recovery - Belief that recovery is possible for all, and recovery pathway is an individual\'s choice - Understands when/how to share lived experience in a helpful, appropriate way - Ability to maintain healthy relationships
