Berkshire Museum Preparator (Part-Time) in Pittsfield, Massachusetts
Position Summary and Responsibilities: The Preparator reports to the Exhibitions Manager, and assists with the transport and installation of objects, casework, graphics, and other exhibition related materials related to the museum\'s exhibition and experience programming. Additional duties include: - Act as support staff for the Exhibition Manager related to functions and responsibilities of the Exhibition Division - As directed, assist with the implementation of the museum\'s housekeeping plan in relation to exhibition spaces, as well as perform routine maintenance of exhibitions, as directed. - As directed, assist with preparation of exhibition spaces. This may include object handling, digital media installation, painting walls and cases, as well as light carpentry work. Qualifications: - Excellent communication, collaboration, attention to detail, and critical thinking skills - Must be physically able to lift 50lbs - Experience in art/object handling and appropriate training (may be provided as appropriate) - Experience in exhibition installation preferred - Experience with basic carpentry and painting preferred - Knowledge of collections databases and practices preferred - Knowledge of basic digital media platforms preferred The position is 15-20 hours per week during normal operating hours, 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday.
