RESPONSIBILITIES - Coordinates the implementation of city recreational goals, objectives, policies, procedures, programs & work standards, including initiating the preparation and administering of the recreation program budget. - Coordinates the City\'s special event permitting process including coordinating intake, review and sign-off by other city departments, establishment of permitting conditions and communications with applicants as well as identifying and recommending changes to the process and related materials. - Plans, evaluate and coordinate programs, classes, athletic activities & special events, including scheduling facilities and ensuring facilities are set up. - Monitoring day to day operations of programs & events, making site visits, handling & resolving complaints. - Formulating & organizing program goals and plans for seasonal & year round activities such as athletic programs, aquatic programs, special events, and summer playground programs. - Acting as a liaison to a variety of advisory boards, commissions, community and school groups, law enforcement agencies and councils. - Creating press releases, program flyers, brochures, catalogs and newsletters. - Coordinates hiring and providing direction to regular, temporary and volunteer staff. Which includes conducting CORI checks, interviewing, training and scheduling of these employees. - Performs other duties as may be required. QUALIFICATIONS - High school diploma or equivalent, Bachelor\'s degree from an accredited institution with concentration in recreation administration, physical education, leisure studies/services or a related field is preferred. - At least two (2) years of full-time recreation experience. - An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job listed above. - Must possess and maintain a valid driver\'s license and a satisfactory driving record. - Principles & techniques of directing group, social and recreational activities. - Managing recreational programs for community parks, community centers, and/or athletic facilities. - Recreation site management, including operations & maintenance of these sites. - Effective supervision skills, scheduling temporary & volunteer staff, scheduling programs, events and activities. - Enforcing policies & procedures, maintaining files, monitoring & tracking fees & payments. - Developing interpersonal relationships with a variety of users & sponsors. - Communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, subordinates, volunteers and the general public. - Strong technical skills using computers and other equipment or devices needed to perform duties of position - Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. HOURS 35 hours per week 8:30AM - 4:00PM Additional evening and weekend hours may be required. SALARY RANGE: Starting rate \$23.76 - \$25.09 an hour Annual increases up to \$32.91 per hour APPLICATION DEADLINE: Thursday, October 31, 2024 @ 4:00PM or until position is filled
