Guardian Life Reinsurance Specialist in Pittsfield, Massachusetts

The Reinsurance Specialist will provide administration, reporting and accounting support for Individual Market’s reinsurance operations. The Reinsurance Specialist serves as a key contact for all inquiries from reinsurers, internal departments and auditors. The Reinsurance specialist is expected to become knowledgeable about Guardian products and reinsurance treaty provisions. Major responsibilities include transaction review and processing, ensuring retention limit compliance, administering reinsurance payables\receivables and statutory exhibits preparation.

The candidate should be detail oriented, curious, prioritize effectively, and have a solid understanding of insurance products and reinsurance administration. Communication skills are critical as the position is required to interface daily with numerous Guardian associates (Claims, Underwriting, Finance, Actuarial, Audit) and on a regular basis with external entities including reinsurers and various auditors.

You will

  • Ensure reinsurer and policy level information is accurate for risk accumulation, inforce management, billing and reporting purposes

  • Ensure reinsurance agreement requirements and statutory compliance regulations are met

  • Develop reinsurance subject matter expertise to support inquiries from reinsurers and internal department.

  • Billing preparation, communication and settlement of Due to\from Reinsurers

  • Process accounting journals, payment request and prepare general ledger account reconciliations.

  • Partner with Underwriting, Claims and Product Management departments.

  • Prepare statutory reporting policy exhibits and schedules.

  • Ensure compliance with operational and financial controls

  • Support audit process and inquiries from reinsurers, external and internal auditors

  • Identify and implement operational improvements to enhance controls and efficiencies

  • Assist with development of Administrative System enhancement request and testing.

You have

  • 2+ years Life insurance/reinsurance administration experience

  • Intermediate level Microsoft Excel experience

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently, solve problems, manage priorities and meet deadlines

  • Basic Accounting journal and payment processing experience is a plus

Location

Remote role with occasional travel to one or more of these sites: Bethlehem PA, Hudson Yards NYC, Holmdel NJ, or Pittsfield MA

Salary Range

$68,020.00 - $102,025.00

The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
