Barrington Stage Company, an award-winning professional theatre company located in the heart of the Berkshires, is seeking a RESIDENT DANCE TEACHER to join our team for the Musical Theatre Conservatory in Pittsfield, MA. The Musical Theatre Conservatory runs from June 3-July 26, 2024. This position is responsible for teaching weekly dance classes in a variety of styles relevant to the current needs of the musical theatre industry. The Resident Dance Teacher will teach three classes per week with a focus on technique, dance calls, and show choreography. This position will track the student\'s progress over the eight weeks, and help guide and mentor the cohort. They will also collaborate with Director of Musical Theatre Conservatory on other projects such as mock auditions, or choreographing for the final showcase. We hope to provide the students with a diverse group of professionals of different styles and backgrounds. We capture students from programs all over the country, and everyone is arriving with different levels of training- we definitely want this to be a safe space for everyone to grow. The compensation is \$700 per week, with shared housing provided by Barrington Stage. The BSC Musical Theatre Conservatory is a tuition-free 8 Week Intensive training program for pre-professionals. The 2024 BSC Musical Theatre Conservatory will run from June 3 to July 26, 2024. Candidates must demonstrate strong musical theatre skills, be at least 19 years of age, and have completed at least one year of University-level training. Our main goal is to provide a welcoming and supportive environment and a curriculum that is directly relevant to becoming a working artist. Primary Responsibilities - The resident dance teacher is responsible for teaching weekly dance classes in a variety of styles relevant to the current needs of the musical theatre industry. 3 Classes per week with a focus on technique, dance calls, and show choreography. - Collaborate with Director of Musical Theatre Conservatory on other projects such as mock auditions, or choreographing for the final showcase. - Tracking the student\'s progress, mentoring cohort of 12 students Minimum Qualifications - Candidates with a combination of academic and practical experience are particularly encouraged to apply. - Prior teaching experience at university/adult level. - Professional credits as a dancer or choreographer - Active creative or teaching practice and significant currency in the field. - Ability to develop and nurture individual student\'s progress and a strong commitment to progressive education models. - Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
