Transit Operations Manager Full time, salaried, FSLA exempt, FTA safety sensitive. The Transit Operations Manager, under the supervision of the Assistant General Manager, actively supervises Operations Supervisors in both the Paratransit and Fixed Route Operations departments, ensures ongoing employee compliance with both Company and Authority performance standards, directly facilitates or coordinates both initial and ongoing employee trainings, as well as continually interacts with the other department supervisors, outside agencies, the Authority, and the public. This position is subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing, under Federal Transit Administration (FTA) drug and alcohol regulations. This position works within the Administration Department, reporting directly to the Assistant General Manager. Position Requirements Preferably, a successful applicant will possess an associate degree, and more preferably a bachelor\'s degree, in areas such as transportation, business, management, finance, or another related or applicable field. Applicants with other relevant advanced degrees, technical, or professional certification(s) are highly desirable. In lieu of a college degree, applicant must demonstrate at least (10) years of relevant experience. At minimum, demonstrate three (3) and preferably (5) years\' experience in a supervisory, transportation, customer service, or business management environment with supervisory duties and escalating responsibility. Demonstrate knowledge of the principles and practices of employee management and supervision. Demonstrate knowledge of transit business practices such as insurance management, safe workplace practices, FTA Drug and Alcohol program compliance, as well as an understanding of ADA, USDOT and other basic transportation laws, ordinances, regulations underlying a transit operation. Be eligible to be insured by Berkshire Transit Management, Inc\'s vehicle liability insurance policy Demonstrate proficient knowledge of modern office computer systems, such as Microsoft Office Suite. Have reliable transportation both to and from work. Pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test. Pass a pre-employment DOT physical and then maintain a valid DOT medical certification. Demonstrate proficient knowledge of basic math and labor budgeting. Demonstrate an ability to think critically about issues while developing creative and compliant solutions. Demonstrate the ability to explain complex concepts to others in a digestible format when needed; deliver reports and other presentations as required, deliver complex or simple trainings in an engaging and effective manner. Demonstrate critical thinking skills; produce solutions to organizational or departmental issues as needed. Demonstrate the ability to prioritize projects, multitask, and maintain a high quality of work either independently or in a team environment. Demonstrate an ability to analyze organizational or individual performance problems, evaluate alternative solutions, and to initiate programs so that issues may be addressed effectively. Licensing CDL Class B with Air Brakes and Passenger endorsements required as a condition of future and continued employment. Applicants are not required to apply with a CDL or CDL permit. BTM provides paid CDL training for unlicensed Managers.
