Job Description:

Role Overview

The Automation Program Manager / Scrum Master within the Global Investment Distribution Services (GIDS) division of SS&C supports project delivery across the Automation Program. They ensure the success and overall health of the Program by leading scrum teams, tracking delivery, measuring value creation, in addition to analyzing and reporting on the full delivery lifecycle.

The role is a key team member of the Automation Program acting as both the Program Manager towards external stakeholders and parties as well as ScrumMaster within the group. Activities will include daily oversight of development backlogs, product demos, design sessions, sprint planning, program increments, and the reporting of progress towards the team’s plans and goals.

Our ideal candidate must have strong communication skills to succeed as part of this dynamic cross-functional team within a SAFe Agile based environment.


  • Operate within the team’s defined Execution Framework to coordinate the delivery of multiple parallel projects that may often compete for time, resources, and attention.

  • Identify opportunities to continuously improve the group’s operating model and framework, evolving it into a resilient automation COE.

  • Provide Agile coaching for Scrum teams and leadership to ensure the adoption and improvement of agile practices, processes and desired outcomes

  • Establish a culture of self-organizing, cross-functional and accountable teams

  • Lead Scrum teams to deliver the highest priority business value through constant organization of work, elimination of impediments, capacity planning, and real time feedback and reporting.

  • Schedule and facilitate Scrum meetings including Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum and Sprint Reviews to enable teams to plan and complete tasks based on the highest priority and the teams’ available capacity.

  • Build and maintain project plans to accurately track dependencies, resourcing, timelines, and critical path

  • Serve as the point of contact responsible for communicating project status, issues, and deliverables with both internal and external stakeholders

  • Identify and manage scope, risk, and dependencies, using cross-collaboration to mitigate issues

  • Responsible for ensuring all required documentation and deliverables are gathered and maintained for project and SDLC compliance.

We are searching for a team player who can operate within a fast paced, agile environment that has the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and initiatives in order to build and deliver innovative solutions. They are able to manage multiple projects across multiple teams located in various locations and time zones.

This individual must be able to naturally communicate with both the business and technology organizations at all levels. While ability to code is not a pre-requisite for this position, the ability to understand and show empathy for the various roles and positions within the program is a must.

The ideal candidate will be a natural problem solver; applying logical and analytical reasoning in their development practice.


  • Minimum 7 years experience in overall project management for Software development / Intelligent Automation projects

  • At least 3 - 5 years of relevant work experience delivering/managing projects focused on automating business processes.

  • Preference given to experience applying solutions within the US Financial Services Industry leveraging RPA toolsets.

  • Demonstrated business acumen and ability to use effective communication skills with senior leaders, both written and oral in a variety of venues and medium.

  • Mastery of PowerPoint, Excel, Words and new forms of project management delivery tools

  • Ability to anticipate, identify and manages risks with a proven ability to understand and eliminate blockers for themselves and team members.

  • Experience working in agile development frameworks (SAFe, Scrum, etc.) using agile project management software such as JIRA to manage work, plan, and report.

  • Preference given to candidates with professional ScrumMaster designations/certifications.

  • Strategic mindset, with a pragmatic lens and a bias towards action

  • Exceptional analytics, conceptual, and problem solving abilities

  • Managed medium and large size Automation projects team operating across difference locations

  • Gifted at leveraging resource management and, planning, forecasting, capacity planning, project metrics in order to manage delivery and expectations.
