The Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS) is seeking to hire aSenior Java Developerwho will be mainly responsible in supporting the applications for several agencies and will be conducting new application development and enhancing current applications to meet agency needs. The Senior Java Developer will be joining the EOHHS IT team and will be supporting the following major in-house applications: Refugee Immigrant Information System -RISIS (an application used by MA Office of Refugee and Immigrants), Provider Data Management – PDM. The Senior Java Developer will be responsible in reviewing and completing requests in the enhancement pipeline for existing applications and to develop and support any java applications required by the agency. The Senior Java Developer will also perform unit testing by preparing test data, conducting test runs, and reviewing input and output data.
The primary work location for this role will be at 100 Hancock Street Quincy, Massachusetts 02171. The work schedule for this position is Monday thru Friday, 9:00AM to 5:00PM.
Develop, maintain and troubleshoot the existing applications. Perform object-oriented analysis, design using J2EE best practices.
Participate in design reviews and identify potential mitigation strategies for technical risks.
Develop Web Service integration solutions and identify potential design enhancements.
Document approach and core design artifacts along with unit test results.
Configure WebLogic application server to support the deployment of Enterprise Applications and Services.
Develop Architectural Proofs of Concept to demonstrate practical business agile solutions and evolve core architectural constructs.
Measure compliance against standards and report status against the project plan.
Able to work some flexible hours, as required by Project Manager and or team lead, to meet project deadlines.
Maintain and deliver complete project documentation in clear and comprehensive manner.
Work with a disciplined change management and application management environment.
Work independently with minimal direct supervision and/or direction.
Work within a group and collaborative team dynamic under the direction of the Project Manager and or team lead.
Able to juggle multiple initiatives as required by the Project Manager.
Prepares transition documents for required applications.
Provides training and guidance on applications/tech-stack for the team.
Designing reusable Java components, frameworks and libraries
Working closely with architecture group and driving solutions
Troubleshooting production support issues post-deployment and drive solutions
Demonstrating substantial depth of knowledge and experience in Java/J2EE development
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Minimum of 5 years of related experience in Java application and software development
Strong knowledge and experience with Java programming language and Java Development, preferably with Version 1.8.
Knowledge and hands-on experience with working through the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Web Application Development in an Agile Environment.
Experience with developing and supporting both existing and new enterprise applications.
Proven knowledge and hands-on experience with the following technical skillsets:
o Spring (Spring Boot)
o J2EE technologies
o Technology Stack
o Hibernate Web Logic
o Design Principals
Excellent understanding of distributed systems, designing for scalability, performance and availability
Experience and understanding with unit testing, release procedures, coding design and documentation protocol as well as change management procedures
Experience of establishing non-functional best-practices and deploying supporting technologies for improving platform security (including audit) and reliability (latency, availability, scalability)
Knowledge of distributed network architectures and network security is required
Good knowledge of data persistence technologies including relational databases
Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt quickly to changes
Preferred knowledge of health care systems, policies and health care data including HIPAA and government agency regulations.
*Education and Certifications: *
Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business Administration or other related field, or equivalent work experience.
Oracle Java Developer and/or Sun Certified Java Programmer (SCJP) Certification desired
