The Lead Systems Engineer will be part of an R&D capital equipment team responsible for the design and development of current and new products. The candidate will work with design engineers, surgeons, marketing, manufacturing, regulatory affairs, quality, product directors, and other team members to develop product requirements and concepts on new and existing medical devices / capital equipment. This individual enjoys hands on technical leadership and will manage a small team of systems engineers through the full development lifecycle. The Candidate will lead the technical aspects of the systems engineering efforts, establish departmental goals and objectives, keeping Design for Value as an important consideration. Candidates will be responsible for requirements and traceability, use case development, systems design and architecture, reliability, prototyping, troubleshooting, failure analysis, V&V testing, simulations & modeling, and generation of system level test protocols. The Lead System Engineer will work with internal and external partners, participate in design reviews, presenting results of formal analysis, and investigation summaries. The candidate will know and follow all laws and policies that apply to one's job, and maintain the highest levels of professionalism, ethics, and compliance always.



  • This position requires a minimum of 10 years of experience with a BS in Electrical & Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering or Systems Engineering or Biomedical Engineering, or related fields. Master’s degree is a plus.

  • Minimum of 6 years of hands on experience in Systems Engineering.

  • Fundamental understanding of mechanical, electrical and software engineering and the integration of their respective subsystems.

  • Lead the engineering analysis to optimize and select system-level concepts to ensure the final solution fulfills needs, requirements, use cases, environments, and the overall system vision.

  • Maintain transparency and open communications in project activities; interface broadly across departments, and with external partners to resolve problems or conflicting requirements, business demands, and technical risks/issues.

  • Provide technical guidance for systems engineering best practices, product design, development, integration, testing, and reliability improvements, and conduct Risk Management activities to ensure that design and process shortcomings are identified and addressed.

  • Willing to work in medical environments such as cadaver labs and Operating Rooms is required.


  • Experience with analog and digital circuit design and analysis preferred.

  • Experience with computer architecture, networking, and common communications protocols is preferred.

  • Experience in medical device process design and development is preferred.

  • Knowledge of microcontroller/microprocessor and embedded systems applications is a plus.

  • Knowledge of controls, signal/image processing, software design concepts, mechanics, fluids, optics, statistics, and sensors and instrumentation is a plus.

    This position is in Raynham, MA and may require up to 10% travel including international.
