POSITION: Director of Transportation - Contract Logistics

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

A leading company specializing in Contract Logistics solutions in multiple verticals, is looking for their next Director of Transportation to oversee Customer Service, Dispatch, and Drivers. This position will be responsible for overseeing all transportation, distribution, and warehousing for the company. This organization enables clients to streamline the process of delivering products and information to market by providing solutions that increase overall efficiencies while reducing expenditures related to logistics and transportation.

The Director will have a strong background in Freight Forwarding, Contract Logistics and Supply Chain activities. The Director will have experience cultivating both strategic and partnering relationship.

  • Develop appropriate transportation policies and programs that meet cost and service objectives

  • Responsible identifying and selecting key carriers including truckload, intermodal, warehouse, consolidation, and LTL

  • Negotiate annual and spot rates with carriers

  • Oversee freight auditing. Develop and direct the implementation of procedures to ensure that freight claims are processed and collected in a timely manner.

  • Analyze and compare transportation costs, equipment availability

  • Direct and supervise scheduling of incoming and outgoing shipments from all facilities

Experience ( required )

  • 10+ years working in Transportation, Logistics, Operations, Supply Chain, Commercial Management and/or Trading, with 5-7 years in the truck mode

  • Building & leading diverse teams; motivating teams to high performance and results

  • Partnering with senior leaders and businesses to understand strategies/requirements and translating them into priority actions

  • Customer and vendor relationship management

  • At least 5 + years of contract / pricing negotiation experience

  • Leading the development and execution of a regional strategy in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders and interests

  • Experience with Transportation Management and Warehouse Management Systems

  • Experience with all Microsoft Applications

  • College degree is preferred, but not required
