Job Description

Job Summary:

We are presently seeking Material Handler in our Salem facility. This position performs material handling, inventory transactions and material reconciliation, as well as material planning activities in the Clocks Product Line. Works closely with the Manufacturing Supervisor and manufacturing technicians to ensure the production floor has what it needs to execute to a daily/weekly production plan. Brings in material, kits material per production order requirements and distributes this material to manufacturing work cells.

Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with Production Lead and Supervisor to plan, open and close work orders to meet clock deliveries;

  • Kits all parts based on work order requirements for floor use with detail to lot/date code/serial number traceability;

  • Physically picks, transports, and delivers material to designated areas;

  • Expedites materials with Purchasing, Receiving, Incoming Inspection or other related functions to ensure production schedules are met;

  • Runs cycle count listing, performs and conducts cycle count activity including reconciliation of inventory;

  • Closes all work orders while monitoring and reconciling material variances in a timely manner;

  • Performs all month end-closing activities including, ensuring all materials are issued, all labor reporting is complete and accurate, all complete sub-assemblies are issued to inventory from work order and all production orders are complete and Teco’d;

  • Uses various “white boards” to gather information and execute upon daily plan. Also make use and maintains various material shortage boards;

  • In conjunction with quality engineering, buyer and program manager, ensure parts meet “flight” ready specifications, which requires additional testing such as radiation, DPA, PMA, etc.;

  • Maintain separate inventories for customer owned material as well as Excelitas owned material;

  • Maintain shelf life including ordering of and replacement of material;

  • Maintain and plan for open stock hardware;

  • Maintain logs to Nitrogen storage boxes;

  • Point of contact for Fastenal representative.

Requirements:

  • Requires a high school diploma and 5 years of experience as a Materials Planner or Handler;

  • Works well in a low mix, fast paced production environment;

  • Strong judgment and decision making skills;

  • Must have strong organizational skills, as well as strong SAP skills, and experience with MS Office;

  • Must be able to juggle multiple tasks;

  • Effectively communicates with and engages all levels of the organization verbally and in writing;

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Associates Degree with 2 years as a hands-on material planner;

  • Demonstrated Lean Manufacturing training and working knowledge of basic practices;

  • E/M skills/knowledge and experience is a plus;

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand and work for at least 8 hours a day;

  • Ability and willingness to lift up to 40 pounds;

  • Ability to sit at a workstation using a computer for extended periods of time (3+ hours);

  • Ability to adhere to various gowning requirements which will include wearing finger cots, safety glasses/goggles and ESD requirements.
