ABOUT YOU

As an Electrician in Maritime (Bargaining Unit, Local No. 103 – opportunity for Massport employees only) you are a safety-conscious and highly skilled professional with expertise in maintaining and repairing a wide range of electrical systems, including Ship to Shore and Rubber Tire Gantry cranes, high voltage sub stations, and building systems. You troubleshoot and diagnose issues, interpret wiring diagrams, ensure safe power distribution, and maintain comprehensive records of their work. Your mission is to uphold the highest standards of safety, reliability, and efficiency while providing electrical support to maritime and land-based facilities, fostering collaborative teamwork and compliance with relevant regulations.

What you will do:

  • Repair and maintain electrical components on cranes, assessing and responding to service calls.

  • Manage generators, alternators, cables, switches, and other crane electrical systems, including SCR driver units, and maintain detailed repair logs.

  • Support High Voltage switching of maritime power, conducting inspections and reporting issues as needed.

  • Maintain and repair electrical systems in various settings, including buildings, signs, parking lots, roadways, and maritime facilities, collaborating with HVAC professionals and providing temporary power to ships and facilities as required.

WHAT YOU OFFER

  • Proficiency in reading, basic oral and written communication, mathematical aptitude, and manual dexterity, including machinery operation.

  • Proficient in commercial and high voltage switchgear, electronic circuit troubleshooting, and reading complex electrical and electronic schematics.

  • 3-5 years of experience in low/high voltage systems, electronic circuitry troubleshooting and replacement, and completion of relevant training courses within the past 3 years, as indicated on the Aviation Electrical Department bulletin board(s).

  • Massachusetts Journeyman's Electrician License and valid and current driver's license.
