Manufacturing Engineer II SUMMARY The Manufacturing Engineer designs, integrates and/or improves manufacturing systems or related processes through automation, tooling, and materials. Ensures the effective use of materials and equipment to produce high quality products. JOB DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS Maintains manufacturing methods and processes for products including equipment, automation, tooling, fixtures, hand tools, materials, and facilities. Develops methods and processes when necessary. Troubleshoot new or existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes Implements process control procedures including automation and equipment that improve production efficiency and support manufacturing objectives Establish sequence of operations, equipment, and utilization to support functioning equipment and effective operations. Develops and implements assembly and detail drawings, up to and including basic electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic diagrams, bills of materials, written work instructions, operation and maintenance procedures. Prepare status reports as required and other project status deliverables to internal and external customers - and facilitate all related meetings. Trains technical and/or production staff in operating, maintaining, and repairing automation equipment. Support overall business growth by providing advice on capital projects such as increased manufacturing capacity, new machinery, and novel technologies by making recommendations and justifications for new production processes and equipment. Apply continuous improvement methods when applicable. Manages projects by creating and distributing project schedules, driving meetings, and ensuring actions are completed as scheduled by the assigned action owners. Increase the ability of the engineering community by actively sharing knowledge and mentorship. Perform other related duties as required or directed. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor\'s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Three (3) years\' engineering experience in a manufacturing environment Ability to use mechanic and electrician hand tools, hand-held power-tools, and measurement devices and gauges as needed. Ability to create process documents for use in the manufacturing and assembly cells. Ability to write and professionally present technical information to small groups. Must have a good working knowledge of 3D CAD Basic working knowledge of electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic principles Background in Lean/Six Sigma, Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) Working knowledge of Material Requirements Planning (MRP). Excellent time and project management skills. Must be eligible to receive information controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Five (5) years\' engineering experience in a manufacturing environment SAP experience Solid Edge experience ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Actively supports and complies with Pelican\'s objectives, guidelines and commitment to Quality and Safety, with an emphasis on continual improvement. Must be able to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees at all levels. Must have the ability to complete assignments within the timeframe specified by the Manager. Must be flexible regarding working hours. Must be able to work evenings and weekends, with or without advance notice. Must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
