Covestro Utility Operator (night shift) in South Deerfield, Massachusetts

SOUTH DEERFIELD Utility Operator (night shift) The primary function of a Utility Operator is to support the production of quality polyurethane and polycarbonate film of various grades, thickness and width. In this capacity, the Utility Operator is responsible for the safe operation of various processing, grinding, blending, extrusion winding, and film handling equipment. Compliance with Safety Policies, PPE Requirements, Quality Policies, and Operating Procedures are essential for success in this role. More specifically, this position will be responsible for: ?Working safely at all times in a busy Manufacturing Plant; ?Driving a fork truck in a safe manner and change batteries; ?Supplying / cutting packaging supplies; ?Cutting scrap and process rework materials; ?Assisting Operators on running the production lines; ?General Housekeeping around specific areas in the plant; ?Operating reprocessors to produce quality regrind materials in a timely manner; ?Assisting other Operators with starting up, operating, and shutting down processing equipment; ?Supporting production line changeovers; ?Recording process and product information, testing samples, completing order paperwork and packaging materials; ?Basic mechanical activities for the cleaning and maintenance of process equipment; ?Working in a team environment, as well as an individual contributor; ?Diagnosing, correcting and documenting processing problems. Must be willing to work shifts Basic Qualifications: ?High school diploma or GED Preferred Qualifications: ?Previous knowledge of the film/sheet extrusion process is very desirable ?1-2 years in an industrial environment is preferred Essential Knowledge and Skills: ?Ability to comprehend written and verbal instruction; ?Average reading, writing, math, and spoken skills are a must; ?Strong attention to detail; ?Strong mechanical skills; ?Basic computer skills; ?A utility operator must physically be able to routinely lift and carry up to 50 pounds of weight, climb stairs, lift and pull 10 pounds of weight in the overhead position, stoop and bend at the knees and waist. Utility Operators must be capable of working overtime when necessary. In addition they must be able to withstand a working environment where: Ambient room temperatures approach 100 degrees in humid summer weather; Noise approaches 80 dB; Some confined spaces exist and numerous hot surfaces exist.
