Eversource Energy Manager, Emergency Preparedness (Hybrid) in Southborough, Massachusetts

*This is a hybrid role.  The first three months are fulltime in the office.*

This position is responsible for the readiness, planning, integration, training/drilling, initiation and management of the Emergency Preparedness (EP) processes and plans. This includes, but is not limited to, events attributed to major weather storms, municipal, state or federal emergencies, infrastructure emergencies (i.e., black start, network restoration, loss of SCADA/Communications) and business continuity emergencies (i.e., work stoppage). This position provides leadership and support to business unit managers who are accountable for EP response and decisions regarding process, people and technology during all phases of emergency preparation and response. The position also ensures consistent initiation and implementation of various EP plans and assists the Incident Commander during such emergencies as needed. This position is responsible for building pre-emergency relationships with municipal, state or federal government officials as well as with Mutual Aid and external contract resources.

Essential Functions:

  • Implements and oversees an Emergency Preparedness management team with service center managers to ensure consistent and efficient plan execution.
  • Ensures all prescribed training/drills are completed as dictated by the emergency plan. Documents and reports compliance/non-compliance issues to the Incident Commander, or his/her designee, as appropriate.
  • Manages the implementation and consistent use of the outage management system (OMS) during system events.
  • Develops and implements practices to achieve efficient and effective restoration of service and communication during emergencies on the transmission and distribution system.
  • Ensures that emergency plans are compliant with all regulatory filing and training requirements. Conducts continual process reviews and post-incident critiques to lead cross-functional teams in the further improvement of the emergency response portfolio.
  • Establishes and monitors goals, plans, standards, performance objectives and budgets for Emergency Preparedness.
  • Analyzes and recommends resource levels to successfully implement emergency preparedness policies and practices.
  • Determines required resources, defines goals and schedules, coordinates work assignments, supervises staff, and evaluates and monitors project results.

Qualifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skill:

  • Requires a thorough understanding of transmission and distribution issues and activities within the electric utility industry.
  • Requires extensive knowledge in trouble systems and practical knowledge of strategic and tactical planning.
  • Requires knowledge of the Homeland Security Incident Command System (ICS).
  • Knowledge of trouble management systems preferred.

Education:

  • Requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Emergency Management, Engineering, Business, related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • MS in Emergency Management, Engineering or MBA preferred.

Experience :

  • Ten (10) or more years related experience in operations and emergency planning, including previous managerial/supervisory experience.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) certification is preferred.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The annual salary range for this position is $148,550.00 to $165,050.00, plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for an overview of benefits.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
  • Work is performed primarily in an office environment that requires sitting, standing and general movement throughout the office area.
  • Must be able and available to occasionally respond to emergency conditions during off-hours and for extended periods of time.
