Benefits Consultant , Retirement Benefits Team – Human Resources

Full-Time, Springfield, MA or Boston, MA (Hybrid)

The Opportunity

As a Benefits Consultant on the Retirement Plans Team in Human Resources at MassMutual, you will deliver customer-focused, technical and consultative support related to 401(k), pension plans, non-qualified benefits and financial well-being. You will also provide analytical and service support to ensure products are delivered to customers and participants in accordance with the company's fiduciary responsibility and service standards for each plan. As a vendor manager, you will be evaluating the services performed by our vendors to determine if and when changes are need to best meet customer and business needs. Exciting new projects are always on the horizon in this role.

The Team

The Retirement Plans Team in Human Resources at MassMutual values each other as team members. While focused on our plan participants, the team also works collaboratively with other partner teams across MassMutual in order to deliver the highest customer service. Comprised of all Benefit Consultants, our team has varying experience and focused skill levels in the Retirement Plan space and adheres to high ethical standards. The Team is always available to help a member of the group to learn new disciplines in order to achieve results.

The Impact:

  • Retirement Plan Design, Plan Interpretation, Compliance & Communications

  • Project and Vendor Management

  • Consults and advises with key constituents & Senior Management

  • Deliver Retirement Experience presentations to educate participants on all aspects of plans benefits.

  • Drives continuous improvement and efficiencies beyond own scope of responsibility.

The Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 5+ years of experience working with benefit plans, practices & ERISA and IRC (as applicable)

  • Knowledge of non-qualified deferred compensation plans

  • Good presentation skills with advanced experience using MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PPT)

The Ideal Qualifications

  • Master’s degree

  • 5+ years of experience working with benefit plans, practices & ERISA and IRC (as applicable), in the financial services/insurance industry

  • Perform financial modeling to analyze, present and make recommendations
