Sodexo Schools is seeking an Executive Director of Operations to lead our innovative Child Nutrition partnership with Springfield Public Schools District , which serves 60+ schools under the direction of 15 managers and 300+ front line employees. A state-of-the-art commissary kitchen, the Culinary & Nutrition Center (CNC), began operations in April 2019 with the goal of increasing quality, local purchasing, process improvement and operational excellence. The CNC turns fresh items into scratch made baked goods, entrees, side dishes, sauces, etc. for distribution to students at district schools.

The successful candidate will be a visionary leader who aligns with and drives our partner’s mission, “To eliminate student hunger by increasing the quality, sustainability, and efficiency of the child nutritional programs in our schools and community. ” The manager provides strategic and business planning management and directs all operational functions in compliance with USDA and NSLP regulations. In addition, this Executive Director of Operations will improve food quality served to students, increase student participation in food programs and increase student-learning opportunities as it pertains to the child nutrition program. This leader is an organized, natural self-starter with a strong orientation to culture, systems-level thinking, team management and team-wide systems and support. A keen eye for detail, the ability to anticipate problems, a collaborative work ethic, and a high bar for excellence are critical. This leader must bring strong business acumen, the ability to build relationships and influence others to achieve outcomes, and emotional intelligence. They must be able to leverage those competencies within the Sodexo and partner team and throughout both organizations to ensure the team is meeting the demands of a complex and dynamic landscape, including innovating and evolving the way the team works.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Collaboration with our partners to develop and implement activities that drive infrastructure and cultural changes that align with our partner’s mission.

  • Execution of strategic plans by implementing short and long-term goals that align with scope of service, mission and values.

  • Design and implementation of strategic partnership programs that create synergy among providers and stakeholders.

  • Providing strategic leadership to their respective units to ensure client satisfaction and account retention.

  • Maintaining a professional business relationship with our partner by directly negotiating contract terms and matters pertaining to account operations.

  • Driving change across the organization - working at a high level to identify process gaps across the operation by owning operational excellence, and driving strategy & lean labor, food, subcontracting and supply management initiatives outside of pure operational environments.

  • Managing opportunities for a robust pipeline of innovations and initiatives that achieve growth and productivity expectations.

  • Supporting the business to improve and simplify existing processes and ensure capability of the new ones to drive reliability, predictability and efficiency while making the best use of available resources.

  • Providing leadership to ensure contract compliance and management through client guarantees management & tracking, CPI management & reporting/tracking and yearly amendments.

  • Working collaboratively with the operations team, service operations, supply management, and functional teams to find opportunities to align resources and knowledge across different groups.

  • Drive and ensure accountability of business optimization initiatives across the business.

Sodexo offers fair and equitable compensation, partially determined by a candidate's education level or years of relevant experience. While the budgeted range for the position is posted, Sodexo salary offers are based on a candidate's specific criteria, like experience, skills, education and training.
