State of Massachusetts Program Coordinator I - Case Management Unit in Springfield, Massachusetts
The Program Coordinator I in the Case Management Unit, will act as a liaison between the crime laboratory and prosecuting and investigating agencies to assist case activations, direct questions, and provide discovery materials in a timely manner. Duties: - Responsible for obtaining materials and documentation required prior to clearing/activating cases for assignment at the MSPCL. - Provide status updates and reports of cases ADA Investigators and/or Defense Attorneys regarding case inquiries and direct the to the applicable staff when appropriate. - May be required to coordinate the scheduling of outside experts with MSP analysts for observation of case work analysis. - May be required to update a master calendar of all scheduled experts and ensure that MSP protocols for the number of experts allowed in the lab and the duration they are required to be present are adhered to per MSPCL policies. - Coordinate with supervisors and external agencies for scheduling additional analysis of ongoing cases. - Ensure case documentation is properly filed within appropriate case files. - May assign duties and provide supervision to temporary employees, interns, and any other support staff assigned to Case Management and ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner. - Provide instruction and training of peers and subordinates within Case Management Unit and MSPCL personnel as assigned in applicable tasks and procedures as requested or required in accordance with MSPCL policies and procedures. - Track, prepare, and fulfill discovery and Freedom of Information Act requests including coordinating with appropriate analysts to obtain technical materials (i.e. electronic data), gather protocols and case files, send additional applicable materials to appropriate personnel, and monitor status to timely completion. - Maintain case file organization and create file transport assignments as needed. - Serve as administrative liaison between MSPCL personnel, Department personnel, external agencies, and individuals, including primarily investigators, prosecutors, and defense attorneys. - Coordinate with file storage vendor(s) for the pick-up and delivery of case files and other laboratory documentation stored off-site. - Coordinate with facility vendor(s) when on-site for maintenance and accompany individuals while they fulfill their tasks. MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least (A) two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional, administrative or managerial experience in business administration, business management or public administration the major duties of which involved program management, program administration, program coordination, program planning and/or program analysis, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below. Substitutions: I. A Bachelor's or higher degree with a major in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for the required experience.* II.
