MGM Resorts International Slots Assistant Shift Manager - MGM Springfield in Springfield, Massachusetts

The primary responsibility of the Assistant Shift Manager Slots is to oversee day-to-day operations of Slot Operations employees of their assigned shift with specialized attention to employee engagement, guest service, protection of company assets, and ensuring staff duties are performed. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and property policies, practices, and procedures.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Use strategies to engage employees, foster a positive work environment, gather and resolve employee issues, and retain top performers

  • Maintain ongoing communication with employees to share information, listen to feedback, and role-model S.H.O.W. standards

  • Effectively develop and mentor hourly employees to support employees’ career goals and to ensure all departmental standards and goals are understood and met

  • Deliver a level of guest service which is consistent with the company’s and property’s core service standards

  • Engage, entertain and inspire by making a focused commitment to S.H.O.W.

  • Manage team expectations, ensuring compliance with departmental and company policies including coaching sessions.

  • Assist with the management of staff scheduling to ensure company service standards are met

  • Provide instruction, training and implementation of service and other company programs to staff

  • Research and resolve guest and / or employee issues effectively and professionally

  • Manage, organize, and complete assigned projects with attention to detail within the established deadline

  • Delegate job duties and tasks to employee’s utilizing SHOW as the basis for guest engagement

  • Ensure inventory of all company equipment and sensitive keys during shift are maintained and accounted for

  • Protect the confidentiality of company files and documents under immediate control

  • Assist the Shift Manager with management of human resource responsibilities to include training, issuing discipline and ensure the proper documentation of all actions taken for assigned staff members.

  • Fill in for the Shift Manager in their absence as needed

  • Other job-related duties as requested

  • Perform other job related duties as requested

SUPERVISION:

  • Guest Service Representatives, Slots

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Two years’ experience in a slots/casino environment.

  • Knowledge of player tracking systems

  • Must have professional appearance and demeanor.

  • Maintain a professional, neat and well-groomed appearance, adhering to company standards

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts.

  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, in both oral and written forms.

  • High School diploma is required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Proof of eligibility to work in United States.

PREFERRED:

  • Previous money handling experience

  • Prior management experience

  • Previous experience working in a luxury or similar resort
