$27.50/hr

Opportunity summary: As a Supervisor Trainee, you will learn to be responsible for the converting team's safety, quality, and performance throughout the shift. You will identify opportunities within the shift to improve performance and execution, coordinate and manage the quality/production efforts of the hourly team, and lead efforts to achieve key performance metrics that support overall Plant goals. This is a Nonunion role. You will be paid as an hourly employee, and you will be paid overtime your work over forty hours per week.

You will impact WestRock by learning the converting side of the corrugated packaging industry. Your development will include learning to:

· Manage the quality of the converted output, ensuring all product is within specifications and meets customer needs

· Model and promote safety within the shift by leading safety meetings, responding to potential hazards, coordinating with shift maintenance to correct hazards, performing safety audits, and partnering with advocates and safety leaders to support all safety program initiatives

· Manage performance and downtime of converting machines by troubleshooting and preventing issues that could cause downtime or breaks and resolving issues in timely fashion

· Work with other salaried personnel to ensure equipment downtime is fully utilized and scheduled to optimize the maintenance work that can be performed while the machine is down

· Partner with the Maintenance Supervisor Trainee and Maintenance Planner to identify and prioritize maintenance work on machines

· Lead the accident/incident investigation for any incidents that occur in the department

· Assist with the review and approval of Engineering drawings and designs to prevent equipment and/or process conflicts

· Utilize the Plant Department\u2019s Standard Operating Procedures, Converting Department\u2019s General Operating Procedures and Operating Guidelines

· Assist with the review and identification of root causes for customer issues

  • Supervise the hourly employees and ensure necessary training, development, and support.

  • Establish individual goals and evaluate work performance for direct reports.

  • Develop effective partnerships with plant hourly employees to improve overall plant production.

  • Assist with the review and updating of department training material, specifically working with operators to coach them in the qualification process.

What you need to succeed:

  • High School diploma or G.E.D.

  • Prior experience in corrugated packaging or a related industry

  • Westrock production experience is highly valued.

  • Demonstrated leadership ability.

  • A high regard for safety

  • Strong communication, and interpersonal skills leveraged to motivate stakeholders and achieve alignment across the organization.

  • Ability to learn proprietary software programs.

  • Understanding of the principles of continuous improvement
