Baystate Health Supv, Radiology Support Services in Springfield, Massachusetts

Summary:

Under the direction of the Director, Radiology, and according to established policies and procedures, supervises and coordinates the day to day operation of the Support Services functions of Radiology. Is the liaison between the Director, Radiology and the staff. Schedules all work assignments according to needs. The supervisor participates in the development and maintenance of annual operating budget. Responsible for monitoring budget performance. Provide follow-up, investigation and compile reports on budget variances as required or directed. Assist with the evaluation and development for purchases of capital equipment and related items Responsible for the interactions with all age ranges of patients, which may use Radiology Support Services Services, to include pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric. Conducts employee performance appraisals and weekly payroll. Assist and/or conduct disciplinary actions as needed with employees.      

Job Responsibilities:

1) Directs and supervises staff involved in the performance of Support Services functions including, imaging library functions, patient reception and interaction, assisting with radiologists' administrative needs, etc. Makes effective recommendations on employee hiring, transfer, promotion, termination, wage changes and disciplinary actions. Resolves grievances and other personnel problems in a timely manner within limits of position. Performs all functions related to Kronos timekeeping and payroll.

2) Directs and supervises Support Services staff, supervising their day to day functions, including: using Radiology related systems, ensuring correct orders are entered appropriately, assisting radioloigsts with administrative needs, etc. Provides on-call coverage during off hours.

3) Maintains safe work environment, observes all health and safety requirements and prepares and responds to accidents and unusual occurrences, reporting to Director, Radiology.

4) Oversees maintenance and repair of all equipment or systems associated with the performance of Support Services (e.g., CD Burner, Film Digitizer, and misc office equipment). Maintains adequate inventory of supplies and materials and assists with preview, selection and evaluation of new equipment and software.

5) Prepares implements, maintains and updates procedure manuals and assures compliance with all policies and procedures. Monitors, organizes and works to maintain efficient workflow, Coordinates data and section statistics.

6) Oversees orientation and training of new staff and affiliated students and contributes to development and implementation of in-service education programs for all staff.
