POSITION SUMMARY:

The Talent Acquisition Specialist is primarily responsible for recruiting and employment operations. This position will support property and company strategic objectives by effectively and efficiently establishing and maintaining partnerships with assigned business groups to manage and implement recruitment and staffing activities including recruiting strategies, sourcing candidates, interviewing process, evaluation and selection for the property. In addition, this position will complete duties in support of the employment process and on-boarding for MGM Springfield, as well as perform due diligence checks and ensure compliance with licensing as necessary. All duties are to be performed in accordance with federal and state laws and regulations, as well as property and MGM Springfield policies, practices, and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with and build relationships across functional divisions and key internal and external stakeholders.

  • Partner with Talent Acquisition Manager and hiring managers in assigned business groups to gain an understanding of the staffing plans and position requirements; proactively recruits and fills open positions that meet or exceed staffing needs consistent with business goals.

  • Coach and consult as a staffing expert to hiring managers for all matters pertaining to recruitment and employment within assigned business groups.

  • Manage requisition, recruitment, and staffing processes to ensure consistency, legal compliance, and adherence to federal, state, local laws and regulations.

  • Develop partnerships with community, education, and employment agencies to create a reliable pipeline of qualified candidates.

  • Recruit and source diverse candidates through various effective traditional and strategic sourcing methods to include social media, print advertising, internet postings, job fairs, recruiting events, networking, professional organizations, specialty groups, referrals, community partnerships, and recruitment agencies.

  • Collaborate with Talent Management to identify eligible candidates for transfer or promotion.

  • Manage the interviewing and selection process which includes, but is not limited to, prescreening applicants through pre-employment behavioral interviews and skills testing, phone interviews, online quizzes and auditions for department consideration and selection. This also includes alcohol/drug screening, background investigation, gaming licenses, and job offer processing.

  • Maintain accurate and well-organized documentation on talent acquisition processes to ensure legal compliance.

  • Compose correspondence and written material in rough draft and final form based on organizational practices, policies and procedures in order to communicate changes/updates to process, business or selection/hiring decisions, and other pertinent operational information to internal and external clients.

  • Manage internal career opportunity program to include internal postings, selection, and transfer process.

  • Facilitate and execute the employment process for all candidates in assigned business groups, including but not limited to coordinating pre-employment clearances, relative/cohabitant approvals, gaming registration processes, pre-processing audits for new hire on-boarding and orientation scheduling, and I-9 processing and compliance.

  • Respond to requests from Corporate HR partners including, but not limited to, I-9 audit changes from Compliance, and job/position maintenance from Corporate Compensation.

  • Ensure timely completion of transactional requests and special projects.

  • Maintain working knowledge of all federal and state laws, and applicable CBAs pertaining to employment.

  • Work with governing bodies and regulatory agencies to ensure employment-related compliance (DHS, Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission, Internal Audit, etc.).

  • Provides excellent service to internal and external customers.

  • Participate on other HR initiatives and assists on special projects, as assigned and necessary.

  • Other job related duties as requested by HR management.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE :

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.

  • Two (2) years of recruiting or staffing with a minimum of (1) one year exempt-level recruitment, one (1) year of full life-cycle recruiting experience, or three (3) years of human resources experience with a minimum of (1) one year employment operations.

  • Effectively communicate in English, both written and oral forms.

Preferred:

  • Experience with recruitment marketing of high volume and in a union environment preferred.

  • Strong sourcing experience to include internet recruiting, direct sourcing, networking, professional associations, etc. and proficiency using staffing tools such as social media, electronic job boards, applicant tracking systems, HIRS and Internet navigation and data mining skills.

  • Demonstrated experience in effective interviewing and selection methods to include behavior-based selection techniques.

  • Work experience in developing and managing relationships with internal customers at all levels and with recruitment agencies, community job agencies, and other recruitment-related sources.

  • Previous experience working in a similar resort setting.

  • Previous experience with E-verify.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Massachusetts Gaming License, as required

  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States

  • Must use discretion when working with confidential information.

  • Provide guidance to department and customers as needed

  • Proven track record of being energetic, forward thinking and creative and able to challenge assumptions while providing best in class HR.

  • Ability to maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, in both written and oral forms

WORK SCHEDULE/HOURS:

Regular scheduled work hours - must be flexible if needed for occasional work outside of normal business hours.
