Waters Taunton facility is a world class manufacturing facility focusing the syntheses of silica and polymeric materials for separations. We are currently seeking a Senior Process Chemist to work on manufacturing process improvement, process transfer from R&D, trouble shooting of ongoing process issues, as well as manufacturing of the reagents.

This position will reside in Chemistry Technical Support group in Taunton, MA. This person will work closely with QC, Synthesis Department, Chemistry R&D, as well as other departments to ensure smooth manufacturing operations.

  • Perform syntheses of silica or silica hybrid particles as well as their surface modifications

  • Trouble shooting of existing manufacturing processes to understand the ongoing issues

  • Make process improvements on the current processes

  • Transfer new processes from Chemistry R&D to manufacturing

  • Perform syntheses of organic reagents that will be used as biomolecule markers

  • Conduct all project activities in accordance with ISO standard and comply with all EHS requirements

  • Advanced degree in chemistry, preferably, in the field of Organic or Materials Chemistry.

  • Ideal candidates shall have M.S. degree with 0-6 years of experience or Ph. D. degree with 0-2 years of experience.

  • This person is expected to have a sound knowledge of chemistry principles, able to apply them to the analysis of chemical process issues, and design the experiments to improve the processes.

  • This person is also expected to have hands on lab skills, execute the experiments in lab by himself/herself, and link the results to the large scale production.

  • Strong organizational skills and proven ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a deadline-driven environment.

  • Knowledge of HPLC is not required, but desired.

  • Knowledge of DOE (Design of Experiments), process control, and Six Sigma is a plus.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong interpersonal skills.
