Scope of Position

This position will support the Corning Life Sciences Data Analytics team and processes. Responsibilities will include support for the ongoing operational metrics reporting, objective setting, and modelling of operational scenarios in support of Data Analytics strategy. The Business Intelligence Analyst will collect data and provide actionable insights, analysis and proposal for decision making to reduce CLS operational costs and improve service in the field. This role is critical to execute CLS Data Analytics strategy, analyze the root causes and drivers to identify optimization opportunities and implement those opportunities as an individual and as a team member. This role will require sophisticated analysis and data modelling along with the optimization and automation of reporting tools to improve operational efficiency within the global operational landscape.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Drive the design, development, and maintenance of metrics, reports, and analyses to drive critical business decisions.

  • Propose and implement new metrics, analysis techniques, and strategies to improve business performance and better serve our customers.

  • Define the data elements and data structure required to enable reporting.

  • Contribute to operational best practices for business reporting to allow the team to scale.

  • Prepare and deliver analyses and insight reviews to senior leadership.

  • Work with IT, the data warehouse, external data partners, and self-developed databases to enable the appropriate capture, storage, data visualization and analysis of key data elements.

  • Maintain current knowledge on data analytics best practices. Develop and utilize linkages with other Corning business and corporate on data analytics best practices.

  • Implement and document standard procedures and propose and/or implement improvements.

  • Establish and lead a culture focused on customers, quality, service, and cost with continuous improvement.

  • Ensure clear articulation of priorities, targets, metrics, and accountabilities to the cross functional teams.

  • Drive operational excellence with focus on process management and the use of performance excellence tools.

  • Communicate performance metrics effectively across the organization.

  • Effectively utilize the division Business Information system (BI Tool) to share data, reports, and intelligence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, Operations Research, Math, Finance, or related discipline

  • 3+ years’ experience in data, analytics, and/or business intelligence

  • 3+ years’ experience with SQL or other similar relational database query language

  • Experience with data visualization and tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, or similar.

  • Demonstrated understanding of data warehousing and data modelling concepts.

  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, R, etc.

  • Ability to break down complex problems into smaller deliverables that add value.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively cross-functionally with IT, data subject matter experts, Data Engineers, and other Analysts.

  • Experience displaying complex quantitative data in a simple, intuitive format and presenting findings clearly and concisely.

  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs.

  • Technical education and experience in query tools, data compilation and manipulation

The range for this position is $79,151.00 - $108,833.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
