Leidos’ Security Enterprise Solutions (SES) operation is seeking a motivated and talented Principal Algorithm Engineer to join our multidisciplinary, highly energized, and expert data science team. We are seeking an expert algorithm engineer to work as an individual contributor within our EDS machine learning team. This team develops algorithm solutions that meet customer detection requirements and are deployed on Leidos CT aviation security products. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in architecting, developing, and releasing machine learning object detection solutions on a device or instrument. They must also be able to influence and drive the technical direction of the team.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Enhance our object detection algorithms with modern machine learning technologies.

  • Influence the technical direction of algorithm development and deployment used by the team.

  • Create reusable and reliable C++ code as well as refactor and improve legacy code.

  • Work closely with the scrum master to organize complex development projects into manageable tasks that can be delegated to algorithm team members in sprints.

  • Interface with software and MLOps teams to understand, integrate, and deploy algorithms using modern tools and techniques.

  • Communicate with both internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, on technical topics related to project execution.

  • Work with image scientists and data collection team members to plan and execute data collections that produce effective training data for algorithm development.

  • Write technical reports and generate model cards for algorithm releases.

Desired Qualifications:

  • MS in Computer / Electrical Engineering or a similar discipline and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in image processing and machine learning.

  • Must have the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance (US citizenship required).

  • Experience with image segmentation, feature detection, feature analysis, and classification.

  • Expertise in C++ programming.

  • Experience working in Matlab, Python, or similar

  • Experience working in Linux / Unix operating systems and familiarity with scripting

  • Very strong math and analytical skills.

  • Self-driven, able to identify problems, discuss and collaborate on possible solutions, and focus on completing all necessary tasks.

  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills at all levels.

  • May require occasional travel (< 10%)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Computer / Electrical Engineering or a similar discipline.

  • Experience working with Computed Tomography systems and CT image data

  • Experience in CUDA/GPU programming

Pay Range:

Pay Range $122,200.00 - $220,900.00
