Position Summary

As the Purchasing and Planning Manager for our manufacturing facility, you will oversee all aspects of procurement, inventory management, and production planning to ensure seamless operations and timely delivery of products. You will collaborate closely with suppliers, production teams, and other stakeholders to optimize supply chain efficiency and meet customer demands.

Core Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Purchasing Strategy: Develop and implement strategic sourcing initiatives to optimize cost, quality, and lead times for raw materials, components, and equipment required for water treatment product manufacturing.

  • Supplier Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and evaluate supplier performance to ensure reliability, quality, and on-time delivery of materials.

  • Inventory Control: Implement inventory management strategies to minimize stockouts, excess inventory, and carrying costs while ensuring adequate levels of raw materials and finished goods to support production schedules.

  • Production Planning: Collaborate with production teams to develop accurate production plans, schedules, and forecasts based on customer orders, demand forecasts, and inventory levels.

  • Demand Forecasting: Utilize forecasting tools and techniques to predict future demand trends, identify potential risks, and adjust procurement and production plans accordingly.

  • Cost Management: Monitor and analyze purchasing and production costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement cost reduction strategies to improve profitability.

  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies related to procurement, inventory management, and production planning activities.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including sales, engineering, and finance to align purchasing and production plans with business objectives and customer requirements.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify process inefficiencies and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness of purchasing and planning processes.

  • Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports and key performance indicators (KPIs) related to purchasing, inventory management, and production planning activities to senior management.

Position Requirements

FORMAL EDUCATION:

Required: BS/BA in supply chain management, engineering, business management, or related discipline

Preferred: Masters degree

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Required:

Leader with initiative, self-motivating skillset that works both autonomously and in a team environment

5+ Years of experience in supply chain/logistics

Strong communication and presentation skills

Ability to work effectively in a team environment, working with direct and matrix resources

Ability to work across a broad set of stakeholders, both internal and external

Must be willing to travel up to 25%

Knowledge of domestic and international freight laws

Additional Details

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 20%
