TURNERS FALLS Bilingual Family Support Worker, Home Visitor $18 an hour, Part-time 21-27 hrs. a week MCSM (Montague Catholic Social Ministries) is a small social service non-profit agency in downtown Turners Falls, MA. We offer a variety of programs including: Home Visiting, Basic Needs, Family Center and Women?s Center. We are looking for a compassionate individual to join our strength-based home visiting team to provide weekly support for families in Franklin County, involved with the Department of Children and Families (DCF). The position is a subcontracted position with DCF until the end of June 2022, with a possible extension. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive): Through trauma informed practices, home visitors work with families in establishing connections, nurturing resilience, learning parenting skills and acquiring knowledge of child development through preventative strength-based support, education, leadership development and empowerment, utilizing available MCSM resources and referrals to community partners to meet basic needs and build self-sufficiency. Provide weekly home visiting support and case management to DCF families based on identified goals. Carry a caseload of 7-9 families. The Home Visitor?s schedule is flexible but is based around the family?s availability, which might include non-traditional hours. Depending on caseload, the ideal candidate will fill in around the agency on an as is needed basis. The Home Visitor should have proficiency in dealing with cultural differences related to class, age, ethnic, religious, and gender-specific issues. Be non-judgmental about people?s situations. Be aware of co-occurring mental health and trauma. Be able to problem solve, stay calm under pressure, maintain boundaries, confidentiality and have excellent written/oral communication. The Home Visitor should be comfortable working closely with DCF, along with visiting families inside the home and provide occasional transportation. Currently we are offering services through a hybrid model of in person and virtual. Qualifications: Candidates must be bilingual English-Spanish and have a Bachelor?s Degree in the field of Human Services, Early Education, Psychology or Substance use, or a high school diploma with five years? experience in a strength-based home visiting program. Experience working with families involved with DCF is a plus. Reliable transportation and auto insurance is required along with a safe driving record.
