Windows System Administrator III

Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Director of IT, the Windows System Administrator is responsible for the planning, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's Windows server environment and Microsoft Configuration Manager. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Windows Server technologies and a proven track record of success in managing complex Windows environments, including hybrid on-prem / cloud environments.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the organization's Active Directory environment

  • Implement and manage Group Policy to enforce security and compliance standards

  • Troubleshoot and resolve Windows Server issues

  • Manage and maintain Microsoft Configuration Manager (MCM) environment

  • Build and maintain configuration items and task sequences for complex deployments and compliance

  • Build and maintain applications and packages for full life cycle of application deployment

  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting

  • Serve as escalation point for Windows workstation related issues from IT Service Desk

  • Work with other IT team members to ensure the smooth operation of the organization's IT infrastructure

  • Report to office when required for tasks (hybrid / majority remote)

  • Participate in on-call rotation

  • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in Windows Server administration (including Active Directory and Group Policy)

  • 5+ years of experience administering Microsoft Configuration Manager (formerly SCCM)

  • Experience with Entra (formerly Azure AD), and Intune

  • Experience writing and maintaining scripts in PowerShell

  • Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM, etc.)

  • Strong understanding of Windows Server security best practices

  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
