Siemens Consulting Field Service Engineer in Walpole, Massachusetts

Position Overview

  • SiemensIndustry - Customer Services Division is searching for a Sr. Field ServiceEngineer(s) to perform field service, engineering, troubleshooting,preventative maintenance, and commissioning activities for Process AutomationSystems in industrial and utility facilities located in the Southeast PA area.

  • Equipment knowledge to include the majority of thefollowing; PCS-7, APACS, WinCC industrial controls, various communicationsprotocols (Profibus/Profinet) and Siemens HMI systems.

  • Guides and performs on-site technicaland operational support in the development, installation, maintenance andtroubleshooting of PCS7 equipment and systems of a complex nature.

  • This position is accountable for thefulfillment of Service Contracts to regional Customers, and for Service toCustomers on a Break / Fix, Demand Service needs.

  • ThisSenior Field Service Engineer will work in the Customer Service BusinessUnit, Process Automation area of Field Service reporting to the OperationsManager for Process Automation Field Service.

Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibilityin this role is to perform direct Field Service and support functions toCustomer sites, to assist other Field Engineers with large tasks, and to provide startup and commissioningsupport to the Projects team(s).

  • Applies creative andadvanced skills to resolve complex problems not covered by existingprocedures or practices.

  • Specific job tasks andfunctions.

  • Ensure safe jobpractices are being followed, filing Daily Safety Brief form before workbegins each day.

  • Provide scheduled andemergency support remotely or onsite, and provides 2nd and 3rd level usersupport

  • Perform software versionupdates for on-site customers.

  • Complete broad scopeof product and systems support including configuration, installation,commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting and evaluation of customerequipment, systems, and applications.

  • Integration ofcomputer hardware and software.

  • May managesub-contractors and monitor delivery.

  • Program customer requestedsystem changes in function blocks, Sequential Function charts, Ladder logic,and statement lists.

  • Ensure backup(s) and archivesof client systems are kept current.

  • Develops and submits dailyfield reports covering all job activity.

  • Guides themaintenance of Siemens PCS7 Process Control systems, test equipment,calibration items, etc.

  • Will assist in the planningand estimating of labor categories, rates, material dollar costs,transportation expenses and per diem rates to help with the completion ofproposals.

  • Guides training ofcustomers to maintain and adjust complex equipment.

  • Guides the review of taskplans, drawings, and installation schematics and provides continualguidance throughout task duration.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • BS/BA in engineering,computer science, Industrial Controls or other technical field. Certification may be required in someareas.

  • 8+ years ofsuccessful experience in related field and successful demonstration of KeyResponsibilities and Knowledge as presented above. Advanced degree MAY besubstituted for experience, where applicable.

  • 50-75% travelrequired.

  • Experience with SiemensPCS7

  • Good troubleshootingand interpersonal communication skills required.

  • Knowledge of ProcessControl systems, theories, and applications. PLC(s), Control Systems,Automation principles and concepts.

  • This positionrequires employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless they aregranted a medical or religious exemption.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Experience in theSpecialty Chemical industry is preferred.

  • Knowledge of SiemensPCS7 products, Batch and Continuous processes, Brewing, Profibus/Profinet,and networking is preferred.

  • Siemens Drives and S7experience is a plus
