Associate Principal Scientist, Oncology Bioscience- Target identification/validation

We seek a scientific leader with significant experience and deep understanding of tumor drivers and resistance mechanisms. As Associate Principal Scientist, you must be a highly motivated PhD scientist with extensive knowledge of cancer biology and a proven track record of innovation in genetics and molecular biology. We routinely apply RNAi, CRISPR/Cas9 and other genome editing techniques and screening approaches to validate and discover novel oncology targets, with the ultimate goal of identifying a clear path to delivering breakthrough therapies to benefit cancer patients. You will be responsible for target ID/validation and delivery of drug discovery projects in Waltham, MA and contribute to the shape of the early drug discovery portfolio and the overall oncology strategy. Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and working knowledge of bioinformatics strategies/tools to support target discovery are essential for systematically interrogating a wide range of proposed targets with support from various functional groups including Oncology Bioinformatics and Discovery Sciences. Strong organizational, communication, teamwork, and people skills are required.

Minimum requirements

  • PhD with 5+ years relevant postdoctoral or industry experience in molecular/cellular biology, biochemistry, or equivalent field with relevant postdoctoral or industry experience and an understanding of the drug discovery process

  • Strong scientific background in cancer cell biology

  • Innovative, organized, goal-oriented and timeline-conscious with a positive, collaborative attitude and the ability to work in a matrixed team-oriented environment

  • Outstanding oral presentation and written communication skills and a strong track record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals

  • Hands-on experience leading early preclinical drug discovery projects is highly preferred
