Thermo Fisher Scientific Controller CMD and IES Divisions in Waltham, Massachusetts

Lead a Global team partnering closely with the broader CMD business, Global Business Shared Services (GBS), and Corporate Finance teams to deliver financial and business results, drive enhanced controls, optimize processes, and partner with the business on strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Effectively build, lead and run an impactful team that demonstrates elite tools and processes to deliver the reported financials and supporting documentation to Corporate Financial Reporting.

  • Build a sustainable highly effective control environment instituting end-to-end accounting process standards, specifically focused on integrating, data technology with automation, data analytics and data insights. with a common framework and governance.

  • Responsible for leading all aspects of the CMD Instrument and Services global business financial close process guiding the controllership and GBS teams to meet Corporate Guidelines and reporting requirements.

  • Collaborate with Corporate technical accounting teams to perform technical accounting research on technical to ensure proper accounting treatment.

  • Dedication to drive strategies to improve controllership efficiencies, and scalability, including the application and execution of policy, process and system governance.

  • Provide guidance on complex transactions/agreements/deals to ensure compliance with US GAAP and company policies, with clear communication on business implication.

  • Leader and advisor on the creation of data infrastructure and reporting tools that transform the month-end close process, balance sheet reconciliation/analysis, risk analysis and management reviews in support of transformation activities.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of leadership roles in accounting/finance experience in large public, multinational organization.

  • BA/BS major in accounting, finance, business or technical field preferred.

  • Application knowledge of ERP systems and Accounting Transactions

  • Experience in automation tools and project planning and implementation.

  • Intellectual curiosity, versatility, adaptability.

  • Successfully delivered improved performance and customer ease of use.

  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills including ability to take an independent stance on positions across functional partners. Effective communication and across Senior leadership and Group Executives.

  • Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail; ability to elevate perspective at the appropriate time.

  • Parlay technical proficiencies to develop concise, clear, and accurate reporting and analytics; translate data to practical information (communicates openly, uses business acuity).

  • Metric driven approach and skilled ability to translate data and metrics into predictable, valuable business insight.
