Group/division summary

This key position is part of our Laboratory Products Group (LPD) and will be located in Rochester, NY, Mebane, NC, or Waltham, MA

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director for Operations Strategy , will look holistically across the Laboratory Products Group (LPD) to develop operations strategy and influence decisions relating to existing and future global footprint, investments, mergers or acquisitions, and costs, in order to optimize manufacturing operations.

As a partner to the Divisional VP of Operations for LPD, the successful candidate will enact operations strategy to optimize business outcomes across the manufacturing network. The strategy will be aligned with the business leaders and implemented alongside the operations global PMO and support functions. This role is crucial in driving operations strategy to execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Dual Report to the VP of Operations in Laboratory Plastics Equipment (LPE) and Laboratory Equipment (LE), focused on end-to-end supply chain

  • Partner with the VP of operations, the divisional business leader, and their leadership teams, to drive outcomes on key business results.

  • Align operational long/short-term strategic imperatives, including product rationalization, in-region or redundant capacity, buy vs make, cost, acquisitions, or other strategies

  • Support divisional plans in STRAP and AOP results

  • Partner with the Director, Transformative Technologies in developing a roadmap of activities for the respective division

  • Support VP of Ops and PMO Leaders in development of the business case for significant investments.

  • Ensure Capital Deployment strategy is funded and lead all aspects of the execution process, with alignment to Corporate & Group requirements

  • Create standard work to gain alignment with key partners inclusive of group, division business and operations management.

  • Lead Operational due Diligence for project execution & steering meetings and consistent formats, partnered with PMO leader

  • Mentor and coach key operational and functional collaborators to drive validated execution of strategies in order to realize measurable improvements in performance and growth

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or Business

  • Strategy execution experience within end-to-end supply chain.

  • Experience in diverse, global operations leadership with multi-site responsibility

  • Experienced in project management and cross functional leadership in manufacturing

  • A get-it-done personality, with strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect across teams and functions and positively influence all levels of the organization, business units, cultures and geographies.

  • Experience in strategy deployment, X Matrix development, value stream mapping, standard work, metrics boards, stand-up meetings

  • A comprehensive problem solver who can look division-wide to integrate and optimize the operation

  • Able to drive critical, strategic thought processes and continuous improvement in operational areas, including connecting across teams to remove waste along the extended value streams.

  • Passion for driving improvement and leading change in a sophisticated, global environment

  • Strong Eye For Business , Financial literacy sufficient to understand Financial Statements, budgets, material/labor/overhead efficiency

  • Ability to travel up to 50%, including international

  • Transformation or PPI (Practical Process Improvement) Experience Preferred
