National Grid Lead Azure Cloud Architect in Waltham, Massachusetts
National Grid is hiring a Principal Solution Architect - Azure Cloud within our IT Solutions Development Azure Platform team in Waltham, MA. This role can also be based in Brooklyn, NY.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for owning and delivering complex cloud-based solutions using Azure native application, security, EAI, database, tools, and monitoring services.
The candidate will own reviewing design elements and signing off on the overall technical design.
The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the system accurately meets the defined expectations of the business, ensuring that proper testing is implemented, and performance and security requirements are closely monitored by working with the project teams.
The candidate must also have experience providing level of effort estimates for technical portion of solutions.
Create reusable cloud utilities and platform services frameworks for cloud application migrations.
Facilitate/ build-out DevOps CI/CD model for applications.
Provide consultation with multiple application teams throughout their journey to the cloud, providing cloud expertise and solutions to architect and enable the business transformation in the cloud
Assess, design, and develop solutions for cloud, multi-cloud and hybrid infrastructure environments. You will also interact and support diverse IT workloads, including Business Intelligence, Big Data, transactional systems, web applications and many others.
Partners with the Enterprise Architecture team on the creation of the conceptual architecture that addresses the high-level business requirements. Develops Solution Architecture for applicable programs/projects that address key business needs.
Partner with domain leaders and IT business partners to drive cloud adoption in our application portfolios leading with Internal/External PaaS/IaaS technologies based on business requirements and ROI.
Expert level understanding of environment management, release management, code versioning best practices, and deployment methodologies
Strong technical skills with vendor product evaluations, software and technology analysis
Demonstrated ability to effectively work both independently and within cross functional project teams
Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required
Good stakeholder management and influencing skills at project stakeholder level.
Good written and verbal communications skills.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field. Master's degree preferred
12+ years software development experience with 4+ years of experience in Azure Cloud environment
Experience migrating on-premise applications to Azure cloud
Technology design experience which includes: performance, security, availability, as well as operations, monitoring and support
Experience architecting core enabling capabilities utilizing one or more of the following:
DevOps, Git, Python, PowerShell, Jason, Azure ARM templates
Azure, SaaS, IaaS & PaaS Services
Azure SQL, Azure Automation, Azure Resource Manager expertise
Azure Files, Blob Storage, Tables and Queues Experience
Azure migration tools - DoubleTake Move, Microsoft Virtual Machine Converter, Virtual Machine Manager, Azure Site Recovery Manager, Platespin and AppZero
Experience in Data Lake implementation and Snowflake
Microsoft Azure Solution Architect Expert certification AZ-300 & AZ-301 / AZ-303 & AZ-304
