ABOUT THE JOB

We are an innovative global healthcare company that helps the world stay ahead of infectious diseases by delivering more than 500 million vaccine doses a year. Across different countries, our talented teams are exploring new technologies to protect people and promote healthy communities. We chase the miracles of science every single day, pursuing progress to make a real impact on millions of patients around the world.

As an experienced mRNA Process Modelling Scientist, you will lead efforts for development and manufacturing as part of the Data and Computational Science team in the mRNA Center of Excellence (CoE). This team brings end to end data integration and advanced analytics (pre-clinical, biomarkers, process development, CMC, clinical) to projects within the mRNA CoE.

You will be responsible for setting strategy and delivering end-to-end process modelling projects that include predictive modelling and model-based optimization, for and deploying digital solutions to integrate a full data driven decision-making process in order to increase success in our mRNA vaccines and therapeutics development.

Are you ready to shape the future of medicine? The race is on to speed up drug discovery and development to find answers for patients and their families. Your skills could be critical in helping our teams accelerate progress. Join our mRNA Center of Excellence as a Process Modeling Senior Scientist and you'll

work in collaboration with experts located in the US and in France, applying mechanistic knowledge and data driven models to process development and manufacturing for optimization of mRNA vaccines and therapeutics.

  • Bring broad knowledge and expertise in deterministic, mechanistic, statistical and hybrid models for process data for mRNA Drug Substance (DS) and Drug Product (DP) development and manufacturing

  • Partner with chemists, formulators, analysts, engineers, and other scientists across mRNA CoE to rapidly design robust DS and DP processes

  • Design, develop and validate robust solutions, computational tools and pipelines in support of data rich, high throughput experimental workflows that support DS and DP process design, optimization, and troubleshooting

  • Maintain a well-documented, reusable codebase, and traceable model history

  • Proactively identify, assess, and internalize emerging technologies and methods in relevant fields

  • Represent the mRNA CoE Data and Computational Science team in platform and project technical teams as subject matter expert and contribute to the overall DS/DP and CMC data strategy

  • Generate Intellectual Property and participate in the drafting of patent filings

  • Preparation and publication of scientific papers and congress reports

About You

  • Earned PhD in relevant and related discipline (Chemical, Biochemical, Process Engineering, Process Statistics, Physics, etc.) with focus on computational modelling of biopharmaceutical process and unit operations. Up to 2 years of relevant post-doc experience is a plus.

  • Demonstrated track record developing solutions and delivering insights from using statistical, mechanistic and hybrid modelling for bioprocesses, process monitoring and process control.

  • Knowledge of (model-based) Design of Experiments (DoE), Mathematical Modelling and Data Science approaches to process modelling, as well as experience in the usage and application of process modelling software (gPROMS)

  • Expertise in modelling of time series data and/or dynamic process data

  • Practical experience proposing, prototyping and deploying novel algorithms; developing and validating new models

  • Experience with software development good practices (code versioning, testing, etc.) in Python, Julia or R or similar scripting/programming languages.

  • Strong combination of theoretical knowledge, analytical and critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills with proven ability to work independently to learn new technologies, techniques, processes, languages, platforms, systems
