About the job The Institutional Advancement (IA) Division at Brandeis University is seeking a strategic, innovative, self-motivated professional with client services orientations and entrepreneurial spirit to join the Prospect Research team as Senior Research Analyst I. Reporting to the Director of Prospect Research and Pipeline Development, the Analyst is an integral member of the IA division. The Analyst shall produce timely, highly customized, complex, and professionally researched and written work products built upon the evaluation and amalgamation of information gleaned through a process of in-depth biographical research, employment information, and financial asset analysis. S/he is responsible for the proactive assessment, coding and ongoing tracking of major and principal gift prospects for the IA Division. The Analyst employs advanced research data collection methods utilizing a wide range of sources, including complex web queries, vendor subscriptions (Lexis-Nexis, DonorSearch, Relationship Science, iWave, Evertrue, Capital IQ, etc.), social media data, alert services, archival libraries and print publications, internal databases and records, occupational, industry/sector, and employment analysis, financial documents, market surveys, etc. Using proprietary financial forecasting and donor inclination models, the Analyst assesses and rates the ability and propensity of individuals, corporations, and foundations to make philanthropic contributions to and serve in volunteer capacities for the University. The Analyst must be committed to accuracy while also being nimble, possessing an acumen for delivering salient insights and intelligence when responding to rush requests or when interacting and communicating with members of the major and principal gifts fundraising team. Job Responsibilities: Prospect Research / Financial Analysis 80% Employ advanced investigative research, data collection, financial and statistical analysis skills (using public records, proprietary systems, purchased or leased databases, published materials and other resources) to proactively identify, research, and assess the philanthropic giving capacity of prospective donors. Analyze the wealth and assets, giving interests, backgrounds, and Brandeis relationships of individuals, corporations and foundations. Advanced techniques should include private company valuations, ratio and trend analysis, securities and investment analysis, understanding of national and global HNW and UHNW populations and demographic factors that influence trends in philanthropic giving. Write, edit and disseminate high-level and well-written briefing reports for the use by the University President, senior administrators, senior IA leadership, and senior fundraising officers. Respond to and fulfill rush requests, providing intelligence and synthesis of information that helps to brief leadership on the most important and relevant insights on prospects. Regularly contribute to the Prospect Research teams development of accurately rated pools of prospects and donors available for Brandeis fundraising purposes.
